Sony BRC-X400 Reviews

Lousy Manual, Hard to Configure

Installed this to "upgrade" video quality of our church's broadcast. It looks really good. Setting it up is a nightmare. The use manual is not helpful at all.

Good video PTZ

Good video, but not great. The sensor is really small, but it does amaze me how much gain can be added, sure it noisy, but it's not as bad as it seems. Being part of larger production these cams can be very useful. I wouldn't use them alone unless it was daytime then sure they work well, but not as a stand alone in a nightime setting or in a darker indoor enviroment. They are fast panning, and slow. Zoomed in all the way it seems to fast, but 20x plus clear imagine the pan can be to fast and the tilt can see some backlash, but then again being zoomed in all the way what do you expect FR7 performance.

Can this camera work with the blackmagic ATEM?

Can this camera work with the blackmagic ATEM?
Asked by: hector
The Atem models can work with HDMI and SDI outputs with this camera. So you could connect the video outputs to Atem Switcher models like the Atem Mini or the 4k more professional models. Please note that the SDI output will be HD and the HDMI output could support 4k with the Sony optional 4k camera software upgrade.

does this work with PTZ Optics IP SuperController?
Asked by: Colton
While this controller should work with the Sony BRC-X400, and is a universal controller, through supported IP control, for precise motion and best overall control, a Sony controller is better coded to control Sony cameras, such as The Sony RM-IP10 Controller. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/902779-REG/Sony_RM_IP10_IP_Remote_Controller.html

Does this camera work with a RM-BR 300 controller?
Asked by: Richard
Hi Richard, the RM-BR300 controller is discontinued so there will be no support for it. However, the BRC-X400 does include RS-422 control protocol. You can make your own cables with Cat5/6 and use the green phenix connectors that came with the RM-BR300. ~Ralph

Can you recommend a PTZ that matches this camera in terms of color and resolution?
Asked by: Crystal
If not opting for a secondary Sony BRC-X400 4K PTZ Camera with HDMI, IP & 3G-SDI Output (White), consider the Sony SRG-X40UH 4K/HDMI/USB Optical 20x PTZ Camera with PoE+ (White) or the BirdDog EYES P400 4K 10-Bit Full NDI PTZ Camera with Sony Sensor (White) as lower cost alternatives to match with resolution and color.
