Kali Audio MV-BT Overview

The MV-BT Bluetooth Input Module from Kali Audio is a two-channel Bluetooth receiver with two balanced XLR and 1/4" TRS outputs for use with professional sound systems. It can be used to pair any Bluetooth-capable playback device such as a smartphone or a laptop (sold separately) to stream audio and integrate directly to speakers, mixers or an audio interface for CD-quality sound reproduction.

The MV-BT features an independent volume control that eliminates the need to control volume from the playback device. This puts the large, easy-to-use volume control at your fingertips and ensures that the Bluetooth-capable playback device can send audio at the highest possible resolution. LED indicators alongside the volume wheel display the volume level.

In addition to the Bluetooth input, there is a 3.5mm mini-jack wired input that provides physical connection to older devices. Also, a 5 VDC adapter is included.

Balanced Outputs
The MV-BT provides stereo TRS and XLR for easy connection to any professional system. Because they are balanced connections, users can use longer cable runs without introducing more noise into their system.
Independent Volume Control
The MV-BT uses an independent volume control, so you don't have to control volume from your playback device. This means you can play at full resolution and still fine-tune the output volume according to your needs without having the playback device at your fingertips.
Professional Look and Feel
The LED array gives instantaneous visual feedback for the output level and is a welcome aesthetic addition to any professional audio setup. The volume control knob is weighted for a precise feel and detented so that users can set volume and not worry about it changing.
Compatible with Older Devices
Older devices can connect to the MV-BT via the 3.5mm input on the side of the unit.

Perfect for me use-case

I have powered studio monitor speakers in my garage that take balanced sound input, and I wanted to be able to stream audio to them. This was perfect for that. Bonus for the 3.5mm audio jack - I hooked up an Amazon Echo speaker that has a blown speaker, and that worked fine. My only complaint is that the line-in 3.5mm audio jack OVERRIDES the Bluetooth connection. I wish the logic was reversed so that Bluetooth would override the line-in once connected.

This thing is great and does exactly what I needed it to! It is connected via bluetooth to my Apple TV across the room so I can output audio from my projector. The range is also absurd, I had my phone connected and had to step out while forgetting to disconnect and my girlfriend said it didn't cut out until I got to the corner down the street. Super intuitive interface, just wish that the volume set on the physical knob and the volume for the bluetooth input device were synced so there we're two separate volume levels.

When a transmitting device falls out of range is there a sound, beep or alert baked into the hard circuitry that cannot be switched off or turned down 100% to avoid interruption during a live show?

The Kali Audio MV-BT Bluetooth Input Module has no built-in audible or visual alert for lost Bluetooth connection.
