Polsen ESM-1 Overview

The ESM-1-MN Single-Sided Earset Microphone for Recorders and Wireless Transmitters from Polsen is a low-profile, lightweight earset microphone that is designed to deliver accurate and natural-sounding speech and vocals. The miniature 3mm microphone is optimized for speech and is mounted on a flexible, adjustable boom for precise mic placement. The single-sided earclip easily conforms to your ear and holds the mic in place for active applications such as fitness, mobile journalism, house of worship, and more.

The microphone's omnidirectional polar pattern is designed to pick up speech from all directions; even when the mic isn't directly in front of your mouth, the sound is still present and clear. Additionally, for theatrical and live presentations, this earset's low profile won't obstruct a user's face, distract an audience, or cast an unwanted shadow. Built with a cable that terminates to a 3.5mm connector, it is compatible with recorders and wireless bodypack transmitters.

For Wireless Systems
The ESM-1-MN features a 3.5mm connector for compatibility with recorders and wireless transmitters. The 47" cable is long enough that it won't restrict your movements while speaking or performing.
For Speech and Vocals
The earset microphone is optimized for capturing clear, natural-speech, and vocals. When recording in a large venue with a large audience, the omnidirectional polar pattern allows you to be heard loud and clear.
Omnidirectional Polar Pattern
The omnidirectional polar pattern is designed to pick up your voice if the microphone is in front of you or off axis. It ensures a low sensitivity to vocal pops or plosives and sounds natural and accurate, and even if the mic is very close to your mouth, it won't sound deep or boomy.
Compact and Lightweight
There isn't anything like the freedom of speaking when there's nothing distracting or bothering you. The ESM-1-35H is so light and slim that you might not know you're wearing it. Securely attached with a single earclip, you'll never have to worry about mic placement.
Low Profile
The low-profile microphone is easy to use for on-camera or live presentations. It won't obstruct or cast an unwanted shadow when shooting video and is barely noticeable by the audience.
Single-Sided Earclip
For stability, the ESM-1-MN's single earclip adjusts to your ear and securely holds the microphone in place for applications from gym spin classes to large speaking venues.

Earset mic for our lavelier mic system works far better than the mic that the speaker clips on to his/her shirt/blouse. No comparison.

Polsen ESM-1-TA4 Single-Sided Earset Microphone for Shure

The Polsen ESM-1-TA4 Single-Sided Earset Microphone for Shure Transmitters surprised me at its crispness and high sensitivity. The volume level compared to the Shure stock lapel mic is quite a bit higher. This is not a problem and enhances the speakers voice by lowering the overall volume in the preamp thus lowering background noise. This mic is very cost effective and works quite well.

Dumb question, would this work if I plugged this into an average aux port?
Asked by: Sky
Whether you are referencing an Aux In port or an Aux Out port it will not work because mic signal is much lowerl than line level signal like from a headphone output for example. Because of that, the ESM-1-MN would only be compatible with a microphone input.

Does it require 48V phantom power?
Asked by: Nihar
No, the Polsen ESM-1-MN Single-Sided Earset Microphone does not require 48V of phantom power, it requires 1.5 to 5V of plug-in power which can be supplied through the 3.5mm mic input on many recorders or cameras, as well as by the 3.5mm jack on certain computers.

Could this be used with a Rode VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS female to XLR male adapter with phantom power converter to use it as a wired mic?
Asked by: Don
Yes, the Polsen ESM-1-35H Single-Sided Earset Microphone for Sennheiser Transmitters (B&H # POESM135H) can be used with the RODE VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter (B&H # ROVXLRP) in order to connect it to a wired XLR microphone input. As another option, you could use the similar Polsen ESM-1-MN Single-Sided Earset Microphone for Recorders and Wireless Transmitters (B&H # POESM1MN) for connection to a standard 3.5mm TRS mic input with plug-in power. Either version of the earset mic can be used with the VXLR+ adapter for connection to an XLR mic input. The difference between the two models is that the version for Sennheiser transmitters has a locking 3.5mm connector and the version for recorders has a standard non-locking 3.5mm connector.

Has anyone compared the Polsen ESM-1-TA4 Single-Sided Earset Microphone for Shure Transmitters to the Pyle PMEMS10... do they sound similar, dramatically different, level about the same?
Asked by: John
While we have not compared the Polsen ESM-1-TA4 Single-Sided Earset Microphone for Shure Transmitters directly against the Pyle Pro PMEMS10 Omni Earset Microphone for Shure Wireless Transmitters, based on specifications and user reviews, the Pyle appears to edge out the Polsen in overall quality. It has a wider frequency response and is more commonly used with many positive reviews.

I'm wondering if I bend it to be used on the other ear if the microphone will break? It's currently set up for the left ear.
Asked by: Brandon
The boom on the Polsen ESM-1-35H Single-Sided Earset Microphone is flexible and adjustable, so it should not break if you bend it to curve for use on the right ear.
