Movo Photo VXR10 Overview

Designed for use with DSLR cameras, camcorders, iPhones, Android devices, smartphones, tablets, and more, the Movo Photo VXR10 is a cardioid condenser microphone intended for capturing audio for viewable media. It is styled in black.

This is a shotgun style mic, giving you a cardioid polar pattern that is better suited toward camera-mounted recording, as it emphasizes what's in front of the character by minimizing audio coming in from the sides. This condenser microphone relies on power from your phone or camera, requiring no batteries. It offers a 35 Hz to 18 kHz frequency response, which is suitable for capturing audio for most viewable media.

Included with this microphone are a furry windscreen (for use in the windy outdoors) as well as a soft case for storing the mic. For DSLR cameras, camcorders, and recorders, a 3.5mm TRS cable is included. For smartphones, tablets, and apple products, a 3.5mm TRRS cable is provided. The mic also includes a shockmount to minimize vibrations and handling noise, ensuring a smoother audio capture.

The Movo VXR10 is perfect for my uses. It is solidly built and has a good output. I appreciate its versatility since it can be used with cameras, pads, smartphones, and computers. I'm pleased that I don't have to worry about a battery. For the price it cannot be outdone.

Can you recommend a tripod to mount this on? Will any standard tripod work?

The shockmount included with the VXR10 microphone has a 1/4" female thread on the bottom which allows you to mount it on any standard tripod or use it with a pistol grip. Without knowing what type of applications you will be using the mic for or if there is a budget that you would like to stay within, it is difficult to recommend a specific tripod. No, the Movo Photo VXR10 Cardioid Condenser Video Microphone is not compatible for use with the FUJIFILM X-Pro2 Mirrorless Digital Camera. The VXR10 mic requires plug-in power, but the camera cannot supply it. However, you can use a microphone that is powered using a battery like the Movo Photo VXR3030 Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone (B&H # MOVXR3030), the Saramonic VMIC Pro Super Directional Video Condenser Microphone (B&H # SAVMICPRO), the Vidpro Condenser Stereo XY Microphone Kit (B&H # VIXMCSKIT), or the Polsen MVS-5 Stereo Shotgun Microphone for DSLR Cameras and Portable Recorders (B&H # POMVS5). Since the mic input on the X-Pro2 is 2.5mm TRS and the cables for the microphones have a 3.5mm TRS connector, you can use an adapter like the Saramonic SR-25C35 3.5mm Female to 2.5mm Male Adapter Cable for 2.5mm DSLR Cameras (B&H # SASR25C35) to enable compatibility.

The microphone comes with a TRS cable for use with DSLR cameras and a TRRS cable for use with pre-usb-C Android Phones. For use with an iPhone you will need to use an Apple lightning headphone adapter, also known as a dongle.

What are the minimum and maximum operating temperatures?

I am sorry but the manufacturer has not provided any specifications for the microphone's minimum and maximum operating temperatures. I checked specs for other similar microphones made by Rode, Deity, Comica and Polsen for comparison and none of the manufacturers have provided information for operating temperature. We recommend avoiding exposure to extreme hot and cold environments for best results.

I am sorry but the manufacturer has not provided a specification for the maximum sound pressure level of the VXR10. Most similar style microphones from other manufacturers do not have detailed specifications either. One of the few that do is the Yelangu MIC10 (B&H # YEMIC10) which is rated at 115 dB SPL. I would estimate that the rating for the VXR10 is going to be in the same general range. You can reach out to Movo Photo directly to ask if they can provide you with additional specifications that are not listed with their product information.
