Manufacturing defects on the mirror and poor fit and finish highlight the supposedly inexpensive price point. However, the price doesn't.
One of the better units on the market.

I used these in college and have been wanting one for some time now that I have my darkroom up and running. Well made and works excellent. I recommend this way over the popular plastic competition as well as it's much more expensive counterpart.

does not seem to work. should there be a lens at the bottom of the tube, i.e. under the wire?
It does not have a lens as you asked. But it does take a bit of practice looking at a grain focuser.
You just need to look at it just right to see it.
If you do continue to have issues please call or come into chat so we can help further.
