A bright, normal-length lens, the Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 II ASPH. from Panasonic is a 50mm equivalent prime for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. Characterized by its fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, this lens affords notable control over depth of field and is also well-suited to working in low-light conditions. Its optical design incorporates one UHR element and a pair of aspherical elements to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion, and a Nano Surface Coating has also been applied to suppress lens flare and ghosting for greater contrast in harsh lighting. A stepping autofocus motor, along with an internal focus design, contributes to quick and quiet focusing performance for both photo and video applications. Additionally, this lens sports a dust- and splash-resistant construction to benefit working in inclement conditions.

Great lens but be careful on OM/Olympus bodies
I have aI couple of Olympus/OM bodies, and this works fine and is a great lens. But be careful when updating the cameras firmware if this lens is on an OM (Olympus) camera because the website may also show this lens has also has an update,. It is OK to do the camera body update. BUT DO NOT DO THE PANASONIC LEICA LENS UPDATE USING THE OM/Olympus WEBSITE! There are reports of this lens being bricked and not working at all. (Fortunately for me I never tried this so I'm OK.)
Love everything but the lens hood
Well made, small and terrific image quality all round. F1.4 is a really useful tool, especially for the Micro-4:3 format for two reasons. First, it's harder to get subject isolation in this smaller format, so speed is the answer. Secondly, recall that anything smaller that F8.0 is not desirable in Micro-4:3, since diffraction starts to impact IQ. So having a fast lens give options. The lens comes with a squared off lens hood. Some will like the look. I don't. But worse than that I'm not sure it's as effective as a simple round hood would have been. But worse still, the hood doesn't reverse. In the Micro-4:3 system, where size and portability are paramount, what were they thinking? Remember an equivalent FF lens would be 2 times the price and size. It's a great lens. Well made, excellent image quality. Small. While I find this hood annoying, I still think this is a 5-star lens. Hope this helps.
