Designed to fit in the palm of your hand, the C1 Plus is a smartphone studio light that delivers beautiful light on the go and creates professional images with a simple click. Point-and-shoot with automatic exposure and flash power based on the surrounding conditions, and switch between natural and dramatic images with a swipe of your finger. For those who would like more control and freedom over power, exposure, and color temperature, the C1 may be used in manual mode.
The Profoto C1 Plus was built with a round shape that creates soft light falloff. Thanks to its wide range of colors, you'll be able to match a wide variety of lighting conditions, ranging from dusk to dawn. To help keep your images looking natural, built-in reflectors and a dome diffuser create organic shadows.
The Profoto C1 Plus is compatible with light-shaping tools such as color gels, grids, and domes, which provide a wide range of creative possibilities. The light-shaping tools snap on and off quickly with the C1 Plus' magnetic mount. Use it hand-held to easily play around and explore different angles by simply moving the C1 Plus around or put it on a stand or arm with the built-in thread mount. You can even use several lights together. Since C1 Plus is also compatible with Profoto AirTTL Remotes, you can bring it along if shooting with a classic camera.
The Profoto C1 Plus is compatible with the iPhone 7 and later. Its integrated 1500mAh lithium-ion polymer battery lasts for around 2000 full-power flashes or 40 minutes of continuous light at full power. Once depleted, it can be recharged in two hours using the included USB Type-C to Type-A cable.

Profoto C1 PLUS Reviews
Requires their app to sync, doesn't work with iPhone camera
I was disappointed to find this does NOT work as a synchronized flash with the native camera app on iPhone. You can set it to CONTINUOUS ON mode (with the light on all the time) and shoot using the iPhone camera app, but that's the only way you can use it so as to get the full-features of your iPhone camera. For a synchronized flash, the C1 Plus off-camera iPhone flash requires use of the Profoto Camera app, which despite it's bombastic claim of being the best professional camera, is very limited in functionality. For example: ~ No portrait mode; which is to say, no clear way to blur the background. (Since there is no aperture control available for the iPhone, changing the shutter speed doesn't do it.) Pretty poor for an off-camera flash photo app designed to pop a fairly close subject off the background! ~ NO OPTICAL ZOOM and very limited DIGITAL ZOOM; you can pinch to zoom, a little, but that's about it. Want wide angle, you're out of luck. Just got it and need to test it more to see if it's useful despite it's limitations. If not, I'll be testing B and H's return policy.
Very happy with this OCF for mobile devices
This easy to use off camera flash makes cell phone photos significantly more impressive. It is very easy to use. The constant-on feature (with compatible color gels) is terrific for videos too.
Good
You need this thing if you're: 1. A strobist 2. Bored 3. Have $500 to spend without apparent ROI 4. Have an iPhone (no Android support yet) If all items are applicable to you - read on! This little flash is a real fun to use and annoy your friends and relatives. It's quite underpowered, much less power compared to a standard mid size guide number ~40 regular flash. Outdoors, in a shade I had to shoot at 10/10, ~2 ft from the subject to get some decent fill on the face. The automatic mode in the Profoto app is useless at the moment. Much more useless than the TTL mode in your camera. It's unpredictable, so switch to the manual mode to avoid surprises. Unless your hands are 10ft long - a light stand is recommended for decent results shooting with a 50-ish mm equiv (iPhone branded as telephoto) camera. The Profoto app works ok if you keep your expectations low. There is a very little control over exposure settings, but the general idea is clear and helping to understand the basic artificial lighting principles: set your background exposure and then add your strobe light. I would love to have the fake bokeh computational effect, but it's not there. Overall it's a good thing if you know what are you doing. Modern smart phones like the new iPhone 11 or Galaxy Note 10+ (or the upcoming Pixel 4) can shoot decent portraits using multi-shot HDR and a bunch of AI-powered algorithms (computational photography), so theoretically you can get comparable, and sometimes even better results for less (efforts and money). The AI won't fill the light if it wasn't there in the first place, so there is still some room left for improvement, and the C1 doesn't disappoint here. I wish it would just have more power (500 FP flashes but 4x more power is nice!), and the app would offer more control.
perfect
I love it , it's perfect
Intuitive, well-built, high quality.
The Profoto C1 Plus performs exactly as expected. Extremely well-built, compact and simple to use. The flash is powerful and has a good range. Bluetooth sync is automatic and fast. The constant light is also quite powerful for a small platform. Would highly recommend for users looking to get more out of their mobile photography.
Opens up new possibilities... jury is still out for now.
So this is a cool concept and I hope they continue to refine the smartphone camera app to allow for better quality photos. Currently there are some limitations... while you have total control via the app to set the exposure level and flash level and color, you do not yet have any shutter speed control yet. So photos taken with this app versus the Apple camera get taken at 1/100 sec shutter with a good degree of electronic gain applied... the Apple camera shoots down to 1/30th of a sec and produces an image with much less noise. Also, at this price range, I was surprised to not have been supplied a custom Profoto zippered pouch for storing this in like come with so many of their other products and accessories.
Fun toy, not powerful enough to be of real use
I had lots of fun with it after unpacking, but after some tests concluded its not going to be very useful for working photographer. I might still use it occasionally as a supplementary light source from short distance but it is not powerful enough to diffuse it in any way and still get a decent light intensity. Fun little toy but that's about it.
Does not work with B1X and A1
I was going to shoot some images with my iPhone 12 pro Max on the side. And I was expecting that it would work with my B1X and A1. But C1 does not work with those guys. And I called Profoto, as I expected, I did not get proper guys to ask question.
