The Vienna Symphonic Library Synchron Blüthner 1895 Full Library is a virtual instrument that captures the sound and expressiveness of a refurbished 6' 4" (193 cm) grand piano with proprietary Aliquot stringing. The piano was built in 1895 by the famous Julius Blüthner Pianofortefabrik of Leipzig and acquired by Synchron Stage Vienna after having been lovingly restored by master piano builder Bernhard Balas from Vienna.
The 98.6GB Synchron Blüthner 1895 Full Library was meticulously sampled on Stage B of Synchron Stage Vienna, Austria. The instrument utilizes up to 124,464 samples recorded with 8 different microphone combinations (including surround) to capture the natural ambience of this recording space. Six preconfigured character presets are provided for different types of music ranging from concert to pop. Thanks to the included Synchron Pianos Software, you can tailor the piano's responses and timbre to your individual needs.
The Aliquot system uses additional dampened strings positioned above the conventional strings of the treble register. This fourth set of strings is not struck by the hammers but resonates sympathetically to enhance the overtones, providing a velvety, organic shimmer and giving the instrument a particularly lyrical singing quality called the Golden Tone.
This virtual recreation is extremely versatile and well suited for soloists looking for a slightly different, personal piano sound. The Blüthner lends itself well to song accompaniments and chamber music settings, as well as pop songs and ballads where other concert grands sound too large and obtrusive.
Composers such as Debussy, Brahms, Mahler, Bartok, Liszt, Tchaikowsky, Shostakowitch and Rachmaninov created their works on a Blüthner grand. Famously, Paul McCartney played a Blüthner concert grand when recording Let It Be for the film of the same title in 1969.
The software is compatible with Mac and Windows, and operates in AU, VST, and AAX formats.
