Anamorphic lenses operate by capturing a wider image than would normally be possible with standard optics. They accomplish this by horizontally squeezing a wider image onto your phone's sensor. As this lens performs a squeeze of 1.33x, the horizontal field of view will increase by 33%, which gives videos an aspect ratio of 2.40:1, as compared to the spherical, or non-anamorphic ratio of 1.78:1 (16:9).
Sirui built this lens' optics using German-manufactured Schott glass, and the lens housing features aircraft-grade aluminum components, both of which increase durability and resolution. The optics also feature multi-layer, anti-reflective coatings. The VD-01 can be mounted to your phone using Sirui's Mobile Lens Clip Adapter, and it may also be used with Sirui's Circular Polarizer Filter and Adjustable ND Filter.
