MSI PS341WU Reviews
Screen died - won't repair
I have had this monitor for about a year. It hangs up and never moves so it's in like new condition. Overall it's OK. It has issues waking from the MacBook Pro and sometimes I have to unplug it to work. It has some pretty bad ghosting from the LEDs. But given the price point not bad. Colors look pretty good. Then.... The screen died. I noticed what looks like an acid burning through it in the bottom corner. It is bubbling from the inside. I got an RMA and paid $120 or so to ship it. Two weeks plus later they tell me they want $530 to fix it. Did I pull off the cover and pour acid inside it? It's bubbling from the inside. I guess I'll tell them to throw it in the trash.
Never buy an MSI monitor
I have only purchased two MSI monitors in my life. BOTH came dead on arrival. Same darn issue. They get some kind of internal power(buzzing, pc detecting resolution), but the display just 100% fails to come on period. Tech support acts baffled, like it never happens. RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. No major damage. Nothing. 1100 dollars wasted.
Nice Even Screen with Image retention
I thought it was a nice screen. Nice and crisp. Anti-glare finish looked good. Worked with Windows 10 HDR @10bit. Screen controls were easy to use as well as the software interface. Only negative was image retention which I thought I could live with since it fades out. And one serious issue started happening after few weeks, it started glitching out with random banding. Not sure if this is a common issue. So I had to send it back. Otherwise thought it was a great wide screen for the price @5k by 2k. Only 2 screens on the market that can give you that resolution. This MSI and the LG with the same panel.
Thx
Thx for great monitor
Third updated review...
Was working on some music production today for a few hours, and then opened a web browser. Noticed a very blatant image retention problem. Did some more testing with grid pictures made full screen and confirmed this display suffers from a very bad image retention issue. B&H processed the return, it’s going back! https://ibb.co/SNYCxgt
Works well with displayport
I like this monitor. It was an upgrade from my LG 3440x1440 widescreen and the extra resolution is fantastic. Color space seems accurate. Display port works properly. Weird but the usb doesn’t provide power for my bias lighting - no big deal but weird. The stand is the most over engineered product ever. I’m afraid I won’t be able to get the monitor back on the stand after taking it off it’s vesa arm. It’s thick - really thick. Surprisingly thick. Also, I wish it was curved. My LG was and it made a huge difference. Overall a very good experience at a price point well below LG’s 5k2k and available to purchase (unlike the LG).
Excellent work monitor.
I do a lot of coding so this monitor is perfect. It is NOT a gaming monitor so if knock it for that just don't. No issues after a week. I'll update in few months. Great price compared to other monitors with the same panel.
Not the best
Mine died completely during a FW update after 1 year of use. It will not turn on any more. Getting support for MSI products is an absolute nightmare (main reason for 2 stars), and it has really odd support on macOS devices. It was a decent monitor before it decided to die.
