Olympus ECG-5 Reviews

Perfect for the OM5

Admittedly I was not very impressed with the feel of the OM5 when compared to my Em 1 MkII and III cameras. However, this grip is a total game changer. It makes the OM5 almost perfect. I would recommend this grip to anyone with an Em5 MkIII or OM5. Trust me - you will be glad you did. The only thing better that this grip was buying it from B&H. Perfect transaction.

Appreciable increase in positive ergonomics:

This quality add-on is worth the price that appears to some as excessive. Much of my time outdoors I walk around with my right hand touching this camera body one way or another, on a sling, and I am always using the 100-400mm Olympus telephoto made for MFT. To easily hold and lift this rig securely for shooting, having the larger grip surface, the small but useful extra 1/2 on the bottom of the camera body and the forward-placed 2nd shutter button are all welcome and advantageous improvements. If I were only using a small and light lens, I probably would not bother with an external grip accessory. Yes, you have to remove the grip to change batteries. In the field, this is some extra hassle, but a compromise outweighed by the increase in feel, control and security. When you are near a charging outlet, use the USB cable to charge the battery already in the camera.
