Tilta PowerGrip Handle with Trigger Overview

Pair the versatile Tiltaing Side Power Handle Type III from Tilta to power the Tilta Nucleus Nano motor and other accessories. Powered by a separately available NP-F970 L-series type battery, this Tilta gray handle slides onto the base of a half or full Tiltaing camera cage and secures with a thumbscrew.

This cage component features an 8 VDC micro-USB output, a 12 VDC barrel output, and a rubberized surface for a secure grip. The handle is compatible with Tiltaing camera cages for Sony a7/a9, Canon 5D, and Panasonic S1 cameras.

Great tool for running focus motors

I use this with a Sony FX3, Tilta Nucleus Nano 2 and focus motor. Battery lasts pretty much all day event shooting powering the wheel and motor. I do wish it could talk to the camera successfully. I have never been able to get that to work. I also wish the second USB port was useful. I haven't found anything that can be powered by it and the sony should be able to talk to it but I can't seem to get that to work either. From a power perspective it works but it WILL NOT power your FX3 which is a bit silly in my opinion. The strap is nice and does help me run longer with it. The ergonomics of the grip is really good assuming you have large hands. I typically wear L/XL gloves.

This is designed for Tiltaing camera cages only. It may not properly connect with Smallrig cages and is not recommended for them

Can the handle with the 970 power the Canon R5/R5C via the micro USB C to USB C on the camera?

The Tilta Tiltaing Side Power Handle Type III (NP-F970 Battery, Tilta Gray) is not an approved solution for powering the Canon R5C camera. Canon's USB power supply or approved USB batteries should be used.

Yes, that seems about right, however I have never used it until it needed recharging during a shoot.

can the TILTA DB-DC-LEP6 dummy battery cable be used in the 12V output, or is it up uping the voltage from the Sony 7.4 battery to 12V somehow?

According to Tilta MFR #TA-SH3-97-G will not work with MFR #TA-SH3-97-G as the cable size is too large. You will need a LP-E6 to 3.5/1.35mm DC Male Dummy Battery for that handle. The 12V port up regulates and the dummy battery down regulates so you will have the correct voltage for an LP-E6. https://bhpho.to/38kfDcP

The appropriate handle for Tilta's Blackmagic Pocket cages is the Tiltaing Side Power Handle Type I (SKU: TITASH197G) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1497932-REG/tilta_ta_sh1_97_g_tiltaing_side_power_handle.html The Type I side handle is designed to fit the Tilta Blackmagic pocket cages, while the Type III handle is designed for the Tilta ZCAM cages.

It’s terrible how the power cable doesn’t come with this because the DC barrel is an irregular size. Now I have to find a cable to use it with my camera. B&H should Let customers know and Have the cables on hand ready to sell.
