Godox Projection Attachment Without Lens Reviews
Good for shaping your light
I use this with a 150mm, for those of you who need this to create a brighter light in a small circle farther away it doesn't work like that. It's not like a magnifying glass focusing the light like a laser even with the lens on, it merely shapes the light and the additional lenses focus the edges so they are crisp.
Design Could be Better
The Godox SA-P Projection attachment is made to mount to a Godox LED light like the S-30 or S-60. The optional SA-17 Bowens Mount to S-30 mount increases its versatility to mount to any constant or flash system using the Bowens mount. There are accessories that I consider mandatory purchases to complete the projector. They are the Godox gobos, gobo holder, shutters, iris, scrims and lenses. With these, the user can create many light beam projections. If you use a flash for the light source, you will have difficulty focusing and seeing the effect even with a strong modeling light, compared to using it with say the S-60 LED light. The projector works OK. It does project sharp focused or diffused focused light beams. I give it a GRADE C, using the U.S. school grade A-F system. I hate the SA-10 Gobo Holder, because of the poorly designed 2-ring screwing system, and too thin stick handle. There should be more gobo patterns offered. The shutters need longer handles, the 85mm lens friction focusing mount is wobbly and the axis tends toward ground by gravity. Why is there a lack of zoom lenses or interchangeable lens mounts like T-mounts. No filter or gel magnetic attachment, back to using tape? The use of the gobo holder or iris can be done only singly, in conjunction with the scrims. Why not all three Godox, more poor design. As an alternative the new (as of October 2021) Westcott Optical Spot has similar and maybe better features.
