ART EQ-355 Overview

The 355 dual channel, 31 band 1/3 octave graphic equalizer features constant Q circuitry, with a 3% center frequency accuracy. The sliders are 20mm center detent with a selectable boost/cut range, and the unit provides active balanced and unbalanced input and output connections, adjustable high pass and low pass filters, variable input level control, clip level indicators, ground lift switch, internal power supply with selectable line voltage switch.

Each channel of the 355 has its own bypass switch with LED indicator, is housed in a rugged, all-steel constructed chassis which occupies 2U rack space, and is intended for installation in standard 19" equipment racks. Multiple input and output configurations are provided for ease of use and incorporate paralleled connections. The XLR and 1/4" TRS connectors use active balanced, low noise circuitry. Both the XLR and 1/4" connectors may be used in an unbalanced configuration. The RCA jacks are unbalanced. The unit is designed to work with a variety of signal levels. The input level control covers a wide range and can easily accommodate -10 and +4 signal levels.

The 355 may be used in a variety of applications such as live sound, recording studios, instrument racks, as well as any conventional fixed installation environment.

This EQ replaces a DBX which had seem many years of use. When deciding with what to replace it, I found this to be comparable to a similar 31-band DBX at half the cost. Now in use approaching 3 years, I have had no problems and it is an integral part of my music practice room.

Excellent EQ at unbeatable price

The unit works perfectly fine. It takes less space and consumes less power than much more expensive dbx units. The only thing this lacks which the dbx 2231 has is the noise reduction feature, which can come in handy on some analog sources.

Can I use this with headphones? My intention is to connect quality headphones and isolate, let's say specific music instruments in certain frequencies.

The output of this equalizer could be sent to an audio mixer with a headphone output for monitoring with headphones. The Mackie 402VLZ4 4-Channel Ultra-Compact Mixer, BH #MA402VLZ4, would be a good option.

question

Can I use the unbalanced RCA's as the input then use the balanced XLR's for my outputs? My setup would be Receiver -> RCA's into this EQ -> XLR's out to rackmount amp -> Speakers
