Kowa HC Series Reviews

Review on mows 6mm

Amazing lens for gh4. Very small and light shoots great in low light situations ( f/1.8) and is the equivalent of a regular 12mm on the gh4. That is hard to find for the gh4 without using any adapter

Excellent Wide Angle for the BMPCC

I used this lens on a cross-country road trip, using the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera on a suction mount inside the cabin of a truck. Even looking through the window glass, when I switched lenses from a high end Nikkor Zoom to the Kowa 6mm, during the edit, you could see the marked jump in acuity. Given the lack of filter potential (a weakness for a native ISO 800 camera) I could only use this lens at the very beginning and end of the day when shooting in the truck. There was no room for a matte box system, needed to get an ND working. This lens will stand up to most any prime lens, and is a welcome (wide angle, finally!) addition to any pro shooting situation with the Pocket Cinema Camera.

Will this work on a c-mount Bolex H16?

Will this work on a c-mount Bolex H16?
Asked by: Jordan
Hi there Jordan, I've just tested it on my Bolex Rex4 H16 and unfortunately NO, it will not work on a Bolex C-Mount. It has a rear-protruding element which makes it impossible to focus when fully screwed in or partially screwed in. It can also damage/ misalign the focal plane and filter tray (as I have unfortunately just done). I will be returning mine shortly.

question

Does anybody have recommendations on a front filter adapter so I can add an ND filter? Something small? Thanks!
Asked by: Harlan
Sorry, but wide angle lenses need large filters in order that the filter holders are not photographed. B&H does not seem to have a suitable filter holder at this time. However, here is a clamp that may work. http://bit.ly/19azXhK
