    Vortex SPC-AR2 Reviews

Works ok-ish, low quality, mediocre design.

Let’s start with the good. First off, it is a cool concept. Having a red dot with a protected battery compartment in the mount while using a very common household battery is awesome. Secondly, aside from the somewhat thin cross bolt, this optic seems rock solid. Great construction quality paired with an included protector and caps. Makes you think of the g33 magnifier but way more affordable. That’s about all the good I have. Now for the bad. While the optic durability and glass quality seems good, the emitter quality is horrendous. The refresh rate on this diode is criminally low. Transitioning from one target to the next makes the reticle look like it’s lagging. It is somewhat disorienting especially in low light paired with a weapon light. Secondly, this optic like many other modern red dots has an unbelievably amazing battery life…. Yet it’s the ONLY red dot out there today I’ve seen with such battery life AND a shut off feature after 12 hours. Which is fine because the sig Romeo 4t and many other optics do the same. EXCEPT the sparc AR does not have a shake awake like the rest. Now you’re shutting off every 12 hours to save your already like 500 year long battery life and now have the extra step of making sure your dot is on when you hear someone trying to steal your toaster and touch your kids at 2 am. While it’s currently on my home defense gun, it won’t be for long. I will replace it soon with probably a crossfire or Romeo what ever and forget I ever touched this thing. I might not even sell it as I don’t want some other poor soul to suffer the curse that comes with this optic. Vortex makes great stuff. This ain’t one of em.

    Exactly what I needed

So far it's held zero and easy to see red dot. Even easy to see in bright light of mid day. No complaints so far.
