Keyhole Universal Strap Hands-Free Harness Overview

This Keyhole Universal Strap Hands-Free Camera Harness in black from Back Country Solutions offers you a way to hike, bike, ski, or snowshoe while holding your camera safe and steady against your body. The harness is unique in design since it provides a way to prevent the swing that usually happens when a camera is attached to a typical backpack or chest harness straps. With traditional harnesses you find yourself trying to hold your camera steady while using trekking poles. Or if you're scrambling up a hill, your camera bounces any which way while you're trying to grab a rock to make it to the next ledge.

The Keyhole is designed to hold your camera and lens firmly against your backpack or chest harness, with the lens facing down and held steady with no swing. The design includes a special cap keeper that prevents your lens from swaying side to side. When you're ready to shoot, there's no complicated hardware to unhook or adjust to put your camera into shooting position. Perhaps one of the best features of this system is its ability to limit the strain of your camera on your neck. In addition, with your lens held tightly against your body, there's less chance of it banging into a rock, bush, or the ground.

The Keyhole attaches quickly and efficiently, and is made from durable polypropylene straps and a hard-plastic plate into which your camera slides. Screw the included Keyhole knob into the camera's 1/4 - 20 tripod socket. This knob then slides neatly into the slot of the hard-plastic Keyhole plate. The included Universal Connector easily fastens the Keyhole harness directly to most any backpack or chest harness. The buckles come with four male connectors that mesh with the female connectors on your backpack straps. Adjust the straps so the fit is tight and comfortable. Finally, hook the touch-fastened cap keeper to your existing lens cap. The cap keeper can also be used to make sure your lens cap never disappears, as lens caps tend to do too often. When you're ready to shoot, simply remove the cap keeper and raise the camera slightly to remove it from the Keyhole's slot. After shooting, replace the knob in the slot, reattach the cap keeper and you're ready to move on.

Accessibility
Quickly switch from hands-free positioning to shooting stance with no fancy or complicated hardware to readjust when you want to use your camera
Protection
Holds your camera steady against your body using your backpack or chest harness. The included cap keeper with touch fastener holds your lens facing downward and prevents it from swinging while hiking, skiing or walking. The cap keeper also prevents your lens cap from getting lost.
Simplicity
The Keyhole attaches to backpack shoulder straps at the top with a hook onto the backpack carry handle, in the middle around the shoulder straps with OneWrap straps, and at the bottom with a locking clip onto the backpack shoulder strap ladder lock.

Keyhole Universal Strap Hands-Free Harness Reviews

It works

My pack does not have a webbing strap on the shoulder straps so I couldn't use the normal harness. This one solved the problem. It requires a (hanging) loop on the top of the pack. Since both types of harness hang straight down sweat or a leaky nose can fall on the camera but that's not a big issue. And a telephoto lens that slips needs to be ignored or to use the attached strap and attachment to the lens hood.

Just what I've been Searching for!

Until now, I couldn't find a simple yet affordable method to carry my DSLR camera (hands-free) while using my current Osprey backpack. The KEYHOLE Universal Camera Harness is really simple to attach to my pack and is secure. It will work on any backpack. It's easy to disconnect the straps/buckles when I want to take off my pack, it holds my camera nicely in place when I'm hiking, and my camera is easy to access when I want to use it. Great product. Happy with my purchase!
