Get clean, noise-free recordings at home with the Focusrite Scarlett Vocal Recording Kit, bundled together by B&H for your convenience. The kit supplies a 3rd-generation Scarlett USB audio interface, a large-diaphragm condenser microphone, a pair of closed-back headphones, a reflection filter, a pop filter, a mic stand, and all the necessary cabling. With this kit at your disposal, you'll have essential items for achieving noise-free, full-sounding recordings at home.

Take the microphone and mount it on the stand. Use the pop filter to mitigate plosives, saving your recordings from audible B- and P-pop distortion. Mount the reflection filter to the stand, and you'll filter out a great deal of the room noise. Plug your microphone into the interface to achieve a beautiful sound, complete with a selectable air-band that lends the voice a sparkly, breathy quality. Monitor with the headphones, which won't let sound leak into the recoding.

With all these items at your disposal, you can achieve a high-quality sound even in a low-ceilinged basement.

Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Studio 2x2 USB Audio Interface with Microphone and Headphones (3rd Generation)

Simultaneously record vocals and guitar with top-shelf sound in a compact, bag-friendly, and easy-to-use format with this third-generation Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Studio, a complete recording package featuring a third-generation Scarlett 2i2 2x2 USB audio interface, a large-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone, closed-back headphones, an XLR microphone cable, and a powerful software bundle. Whether you track in the comfort of your own home or record on the go, the Scarlett 2i2 Studio lets you score pro-level tone with no learning curve.

Equally capable for tracking vocals and instruments, the two improved Scarlett microphone preamps feature switchable phantom power for condenser mics and a selectable-per-channel Air circuit, which adds clarity-enhancing brightness based on Focusrite's legendary ISA preamplifier. The two XLR-1/4" combo inputs are outfitted with switches that allow them to accept signal directly from electric instruments such as guitar and bass, from line-level sources such as stereo mixer outputs, or from a hot feed like a drum machine.

Unlocking the ability to record at standard CD quality or high-fidelity resolutions, the 24-bit / 192 kHz AD/DA converters ensure that signals are captured and reproduced with detail and accuracy. Listen through headphones or connect active speakers to the balanced 1/4" monitor outputs, and enjoy independent control of the headphone and speaker volume settings. Use selectable direct monitoring in mono or stereo to hear your live input signal with no distracting echo or latency.

With its bus powering for uninhibited portability, space-saving USB Type-C connection, and extensive software bundle, virtual instruments, plug-in effects, loops, and more, the Scarlett 2i2 gives you plenty of powerful tools to kick-start your inspiration. Just plug the Scarlett 2i2 into your Mac/Windows computer or iPad Pro (with USB Type-C), fire up your preferred audio recording software, and let the creativity flow.

The Focusrite Studio

 • Perfect for recording vocals and a guitar, two instruments, two mics, or a stereo mixer feed
 • Third-generation Scarlett 2i2 2x2 USB audio interface
 • CM25 MkIII large-diaphragm condenser microphone with a cardioid polar pattern for clear vocal tone with reduced ambience
 • HP60 MkIII closed-back, over-ear headphones deliver long-lasting comfort and reliable isolation from outside sounds
 • 9.8' XLR cable for easy hookup of the microphone

Portable and Bus Powered

Both compact and lightweight, the Scarlett 2i2 is rugged and ready to travel with you. Being bus powered via USB Type-C connectivity, it can be used in any room or even remote locations, with your preferred DAW on a Mac/Windows computer or using an iPad Pro equipped with USB Type-C and a music-making app such as Garageband, Cubasis 2, Auria Pro, Ampify Launchpad, Ampify Groovebox, or Ampify Blocs Wave.

Pristine, High-Resolution Conversion

Thanks to its high-performance 24-bit / 192 kHz AD/DA converters, the Scarlett 2i2 is equipped to capture any source from vocals to acoustic and electric instruments clearly and accurately, so you never have to worry about the interface clouding your sound.

Scarlett Mic Preamps with Customizable Tone

The two upgraded third-generation Scarlett mic preamps features switchable 48V phantom power to accommodate your favorite condenser mic and a selectable-per-channel Air setting, which reproduces the Air effect of Focusrite's original ISA mic preamp to impart enhanced brightness and openness on your vocal recordings.

Instrument/Line Input Switches

The XLR-1/4" combo inputs on the Scarlett 2i2's front panel allow distortion-free recording of instruments such as electric guitar and bass, synthesizers, or drum machines, and there's no need for a DI box or amplifiers. At the press of a button, each 1/4" input can be used for line-level sources like a mixer's stereo output or the line outs from guitar and bass amps.

Straightforward Controls and Level Indication

With the Scarlett 2i2's Easy Start tool and independent gain knobs with multicolor gain halo meters, you'll have no trouble getting set up and dialing in the perfect levels. Plus, there are no menus or complicated controls to slow you down.

Independent Headphone and Monitor Outputs

The balanced 1/4" TRS monitor outputs on the rear panel ensure hum-free connectivity with balanced studio monitors. For critical listening through headphones, just plug your earphones or headphones into the front-panel 1/4" headphone jack. Separate knobs are provided for quick, independent adjustment of the monitor and headphone volume.

Latency-Free Monitoring

No musician wants to record if they can't hear their performance clearly. Use the Scarlett 2i2's direct monitor switch to listen to your input signals in mono or stereo, exactly as they are supposed to sound, with no latency and no distracting echo.

Auray RF-CPB-18 Reflection Filter (Plastic)

Designed to help create clean vocal recordings in less-than-ideal recording environments, the plastic RF-CPB-18 Reflection Filter from Auray absorbs and diffuses external noise and room reflections. It can be used in any recording scenario that requires microphone isolation, such as tracking in an acoustically untreated room, untreated rehearsal spaces, project and home studios, and professional studios where additional isolation is needed.

The filter features high-density, open-cell acoustic foam wrapped in an ABS plastic curved screen. Its front sliding bracket and rear adjustment rail easily allows you to adjust its height and depth for precise microphone placement. Thanks to its standard 5/8"-27 threaded adapters, the RF-CPB-18 is compatible with most microphone stands, clips, and shockmounts. It is also ideal for desktop recording and broadcast applications when used with a desktop mic stand that features a weighted metal base (not included). The lightweight, 3-pound body lends to portability while its ABS construction assures its durability.

Compact solution for providing sound isolation for vocal or voice over recording in untreated spaces
High-density open-cell acoustic foam minimizes room ambiance and diffuses external noise to isolate your microphone
Curved shield design ensures dry and clean vocal and voiceover tracks while attenuating external noise

Auray PFNY-6 Nylon Pop Filter with Gooseneck and C-Style Clamp for Mic Stands and Booms

Designed for use with microphones, the Auray PFNY-6 is a pop filter that minimizes vocal plosives and reduces errant breath noise. It's suitable for home and pro studios alike and lends itself to all sorts of recording applications including vocals, voiceovers, broadcasts, and podcasts.

The PFNY-6 utilizes a double-layered nylon screen, affording a clear view of the capsule, so the PFNY-6 won't impede a vocalist from giving a robust-sounding performance, captured on-axis. Additionally, this screen protects your microphone capsule from corrosive moisture.

Its 13" flexible gooseneck will give you plenty of room to maneuver, allowing you to place the screen as close to the capsule as you'd like. A sturdy C-clamp with a thumbscrew fastener protects against slippage, while a rubber grommet and padding protect your mic stand's finish.

General Features

Prevents Vocal Plosives

Anyone who has recorded vocal tracks knows what the sound of the letters p and b can do to the take when a microphone is left unprotected. This double-layered nylon screen dissipates the rush of air caused by vocal plosives, minimizing the popping sounds that can compromise your recording.

Robust Vocal Tracks

By minimizing vocal plosives, vocalists can move closer to the microphone and train their voices directly on the mic capsule for a more rich, centered, warm, and robust track.

Protects Against Corrosive Moisture

In addition to protecting your take from vocal plosives, the PFNY-6 protects your mic capsule from corrosive moisture.

Easy to Attach

The PFNY-6 is outfitted with a sturdy C-clamp that attaches easily to a mic stand or mic boom. Its thumbscrew fastener adjusts to most sizes, and the rubber grommet won't scratch your mic stand's finish.

Focusrite 2i2 Reviews

works out of the box with Linux

I've done only basic testing so far, but everything has gone as expected. It's a simple unit that does what it says. I can see why it's popular. B&H even threw in a new headset, which I needed.

Easy to use and fills my need

This device is perfect for decent audio in doing Zoom interviews or other purposes. It was easy to set up and configure on Windows 10, and lets me monitor my own voice and my interviewee(s) in my headset. It has more software with it than I will ever use. But if you decide to use the free Ableton Live, which is loaded with features, be aware that it will eat up nearly 25 Gbytes of disk space. I'm not needing it as all I need is a simple DAW like Reaper or Audacity--both of which I have. And finally, B&H service is impeccable--as usual!

This unit is exactly what was needed for my client. They needed a simple way to get audio from their sound system into a Mac Book for zoom meetings. No fuss, no muss. Client not no familiar with recording software. Perfect.

The set-up for the Scarlett is a little lengthy, but the whole process takes less than an hour. I have a microphone, guitar, and headphones plugged in at all times and they all work perfectly with this audio interface. Unless you need something more professional, this is perfect for personal use

My setup starts with the Big Knob passive monitor controller where I have my Numark mixer connected in one channel and my PC via 3.5mm plugin on the other. However, trying to play the Arturia Minilab MK2 had too much delay and had to bite the bullet and get this. It solved that problem and now I can plugin my bass. However, I should've put more thought into it and should've gotten the Solo instead. Hopefully, I found more uses for the other line.

I purchased this hoping we could use it for podcasting, which we can, however later found out we need a headset splitter for multiple headsets. No biggie, still works great and is easy to use.

Can I use a premp between my mic and the fourscite?
Asked by: David
Yes, you can use a separate mic preamp between your microphone and the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2x2 USB Audio Interface. The 2i2 does include its own built-in mic preamps, but you can certainly use a separate preamp instead if you prefer.

Would the line outs from an ART DJ Pre II Turntable Phono Preamplifier work with the line inputs on the Scarlet 2i2?
Asked by: Douglas
Yes, they will. Keep in mind that the inputs on the 2i2 are mono, so you will need to connect each output (L/R) from the ART to an individual input, using a dual RCA to 1/4" cable:

For a podcast setup with 2 people speaking is there an advantage to the Gen. 3 over the Gen. 2? I'm all for future-proofing but don't know if the $40 price difference is justifiable for the modest use case I'm considering. Thanks for any insights.
Asked by: Steven
Having owned both versions and testing out for podcasts (for use with two mics), I would say no - they're both extremely similar.

I want to get this as a gift. The person uses a portable turntable for scratching. Will they be able to use this interface to get their scratch sounds onto their computer to add to their music productions? Also, what are the voltage specs on this, the mentioned person will be using this in Germany (230voltage). Thanks!!

If the portable TT has LINE level outputs, then it may be connected to this interface.

I'm using this interface with a rode podmic, and when set to a decent volume it picks up a lot of background noise or idk if it's called floor noise, but it's kinda like a condenser mic, picks up little taps from 5 or 6 ft away, why would that be? I've tried it with other dynamic mics I own and different xlr cables and it's the same thing.
Asked by: Christian
I am not sure if it will help you, but for me I improved my sound quality by getting the mic really close to me. This allowed me to reduce the gain, and lose or reduce significantly a lot of the background noises (like keyboard clicks). You may also be able to reduce the clicking if it comes from a consistent area by experimenting with the direction of your mic. You should be able to get the pickup pattern from Rode. A Cloudlifter or FetHead might also help you boost your signal without rIsing your noise floor. Good luck!
