Nothing much to say except, it works, it fits and it is a bit overpriced. Made of metal. Easy to attach. Screws into a filter. All in all, useful product.

Once its on the lens, the original cap pops into this hood so no reason to ever take it off really. Made of metal its sturdy and essential (IMHO) for this lens.

Can you attach the shade to a UV filter that protects the lens itself? Or must you remove the filter?

If you have a filter on the lens that has 40.5mm front filter threads you can screw the Vello LHS-1650B Dedicated Lens Hood over it.

The Vello LHS-1650B Dedicated Lens Hood screws into the filter threads on the front of the lens. Filters cannot be attached to the front of the lens hood.

Vello LHS-1650B Dedicated Lens Hood will allow the Sony 16-50 lens to retract properly. The lens hood is not used reversed. It does not vignette the image.
