Audio-Technica ATR4697USB Overview

The Audio-Technica ATR4697-USB is an omnidirectional condenser boundary microphone. It takes the same design as the ATR4697 and retrofits the connection for the digital world, giving you a USB-C termination and a USB-C to USB-A adapter to plug it into your Mac or Windows computer.

The ATR4697-USB offers a low profile and thus keeps visibility to a minimum. The mic has an omnidirectional pickup pattern for full coverage of surrounding audio. It is bus-powered by means of its USB connection.

Perfect for a hybrid meeting

I purchased this microphone as a simple solution for an offsite workshop with hybrid participation. We were offsite and didn't have conference room equipment. The mic allowed a few participants to join via Zoom and hear around 20 participants who were in the room around a long table. There was a bit of echo due to the room acoustics but otherwise it was a seamless experience. The device was extremely easy to set up, just plug, select the appropriate mic and go.

I bought this mic to replace my plug-in headset for Zoom calls. I set it just slightly back from the front of my computer speakers and it works like a charm w/o echoing or feedback. And now I'm not physically tethered to my computer/desk during calls.
