What cable could I use with this to get back to a dual XLR 3 pin input to a recording device?
Simplest answer 8~)
Schoeps KS 5U [5m 5-pin XLR extension] ->
Schoeps AK SU/2U [5-pin XLR -> Dual 3-pin Male XLR's]
So the AK SU/2U would be necessary to get back to (2) 3-pin Male XLR's. That is, if you wanted to stick with Schoeps cables the entire signal path. Otherwise, you can buy custom or premade cable to substitute the Schoeps KS 5U and SU/2U and save a little bit of money.
This is my dream setup with my (2) MK 4V's and (2) MK 41V's. But I've been running (2) KCY cables -> Naiant PFA's -> SD MixPre-6/3 (since the first batch in 2017) since 2011 [though I DO miss my old Sonosax SX-M2/LS2 aka Lemosax with the KCY Input & Schoeps VMS 02 IB preamps BADLY], I just can't justify the $5k price increase for a LITTLE BIT better SNR and just to go balanced, which it would cost for (4) CMC1L bodies and the adapter cables to go as lo-pro as possible. I'm only recording shows/concerts and with the 60v PFA's, I never hear any noise with my setup as it's proven faithfully amazing.
However, if I got an inheritance I didn't know about or won the lottery, this would be my FIRST purchase ;) I got to A/B my setup against an equivalent MK 4V -> CMC1L -> MixPre6 II last summer and it DID sound just ever so slightly better with a hair less SNR, but I'm definitely NOT complaining against the best setup money can buy 8~)
Happy Recording everyone!
