Can I plug in a power conditioner to this (Furman ...
Can I plug in a power conditioner to this (Furman SS-6B Power Strip) or would that be redundant, or cause a problem? I’m in residential with power issues that are causing odd hums in audio recordings, and the electrician says a UPC is the way to go, but the studio engineer says a power conditioner is necessary.
I'm an electrician and concur with the other answers, you need to look into grounding issues, specifically what's called a "ground loop".
As for the UPS, it won't fix this issue, it fixes voltage and power factor issues as well as backup power of course, but it won't hurt anything either.
They do make "ground loop isolators" that may do the trick, but sometimes won't help either.
