Wimberley MH-100 MonoGimbal Head for Monopods
Key Features
  • Adds Fluid Tracking Movement to Monopods
  • Load Capacity: 50 lb
  • Height: 3.4"
  • Weight: 0.77 lb
When speed and fluid movement matter, the MH-100 MonoGimbal Head for Monopods by Wimberly brings the functions of a full-sized gimbal head to your monopod with a fraction of the weight and bulk. Its new and unique design allow you to balance the center of gravity of your lens over your tripod, preventing lens flop while maintaining the full range of movement. The solid aluminum and steel construction of the MH-100 means that its only weight limitation is the strength of the monopod. It can be mounted directly on a 3/8"-16 threaded stud or can also mount securely on an Arca-Swiss style quick release receiver clamp.

Directly compatible with sony 200-600's lens foot?
Asked by: Sarah
The Wimberley MH-100 MonoGimbal Head for Monopods is not directly compatible with the Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS Lens foot. You need an Arca-Type Compatible replacement foot for Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS Lens.

Will the tripod mount ring on a Canon lens work with mount? If so, will the mount ring be tightly secured.
Asked by: Sharon
The tripod mount ring on a Canon telephoto lens would need to have an Arca type plate attached to it for use with the MH-100 MonoGimbal Head for Monopods. The plate can vary depending on the lens model you own. The following is a list of plates to consider: https://bit.ly/3EgZriI

Any recommendations for someone thinking of using this on a tripod? Should I mount it on a ball head or directly on the tripod? Is tripod use (im)practical as a permanent solution for someone who wants to travel light on a budget?
Asked by: Andrew
I use the MH-100 with my Canon 300mm 2.8 on a monopod. It should work fine with a tripod. I use this setup for IMSA racing images. Check out images on my Frank Ziegert facebook page. Most of the images were done with this setup.

Is this can be used as a temporary replacement of Gimbal head for long lens on tripod during travel? I have both Wimberley Gimbal head II and SK-100. But they are heavy than this MH-100. If MH-100 put on tripod with center column raised and the pan function of tripod is used, can this handle quite long lense such 400mm similarly as Wimberley Gimbal head does? Thanks!
Asked by: Huitang
Search YouTube. You will find reviews of this head being used with 600mm f/4 lenses and big DSLRs. I've seen reviews of this combination being used on both monopods and tripods. It looks highly compatible with lots of equipment.

Wimberley discourages users from trying to remove the quick-release clamp from the Wimberley MH-100 MonoGimbal Head for Monopods--it's not designed to be removed.
