Godox H400P Overview

The compact and lightweight H400P Extension Head for Witstro AD400Pro from Godox is an 8-foot head extension that weighs less than half of the AD400Pro flash, making it possible to use boom arms and light stands that might not otherwise support its weight. Even with the AD400Pro's small form factor, the diminutive H400P can fit into even tighter spaces, allowing greater versatility in unusual setups, like automotive interiors, macro photography, and small product shots. Simply unplug the flashtube and move it to the extension head, then plug the cable into the strobe with the twist-lock connector.

The integrated Godox mini reflector mount allows Witstro light modifiers to be used. The extension features a fully dimmable, fan-cooled LED modeling light that can be controlled from the main strobe body, and a fully adjustable stand adapter with an integrated umbrella shaft socket.

Bowens S-Mount Adaptability
By suing the separately available BO-AD400PRO Bowens Mount Adapter, Bowens S-Mount type modifiers can be added to the H400P head extension.

The build is great. I attached the bowens mount without a problem. the cable is robust and long enough for extended light stands. The plus locks in instead of the light bulb to protect the front of the extender.

Works like a charm on the AD400 Pro. Cable is sufficiently long enough if hanging your AD400 Pro on the C-stand or putting it on the floor nearby. Would love it if they had a plug that separated the head attachment from the cable so it would be easier to weave through holes for larger modifiers.

Great concept but a serious flaw....be prepared

I love the concept of this extension head, and as a portrait photographer putting together a studio in a small space this was going to make a huge difference. However, there is a major design flaw, that for certain folks it should give you pause. That is the grip that holds the diffuser at the right angle just does not work with any large modifiers. If you are using a large umbrella, it barely holds, but a regular soft box just slips down. Even if you do that rubber washer replacement, this simple fact is the grip is inadequate in size. I found a way to do my own modification, which works a lot better, but you really shouldn't have to do that. (I was able to take a locking grip from an old Bowens strobe, and add it to this, and now I can old ANY size modifier lock solid. One other negative is the umbrella holder, rather that being a lock down screw is a little internal spring clip, and sorry but that is also inadequate. I did a little tap and dye thing and took out the clip, and my screw method works MUCH better. So if you don't have big modifiers, or don't plan to use your umbrella outside, or at a steep angle you should be fine. Or if like me you are willing to be a bit creative, you can make yourself what Godox should have made for you in the first place. As is, only 3 stars, but if I could sell my version I would give it 5 stars.

The Godox H400P Extension Head for Wistro AD400Pro Flash Head, 8' has not been tested on the Flashpoint XPLOR 400 Pro. But technically it should work together.
