Marantz NR1200 Reviews

Very easy to set up, a great app that works flawlessly every time. A lot of inputs and HDMI arc out ,5 in. I use it as a preamp together with MM7025. But I got 1 pair of small B&W speakers mounted in NR1200 and some bigger ones in MM 7025 ….What??? Does that work ….Yes ,and very much so! I also got 4 subwoofers ,2 asw600 10” and 2 Yamaha 8” it’s a perfect combo for my wallet, and as a kitchen stereo set. Yes ,I’m single 😎😀🤟 The sound quality from Marantz is amazing, clean and clear and for the money very very good quality sound. I can recommend this amp if you want a stereo amp and also like to watch Tv with a good quality sound. Good luck 😊

Had it running about 16 hours a day for 2 years or so. Still going beautifully strong.

Plenty of features, and power. With no distortion.

Well designed integrated amp. Really like the musicality, clean non distorted sound. Works well with my MM Turntable, and Marantz CD player. Especially like the HEOS functionality. Plenty of power to drive a pair of Focal Aria 936 speakers. With a decent amount of extended bass. Clean power, no distortion, low noise floor, and easy to enjoy at different volume levels. Only cons, you need a monitor to set configuration. I purchased to be a 2 channel system. I setup with monitor then carried a cross house to setup in 2 channel room.

Simple and Quality

Having problems with my Denon x4200w, and not needing more than four speakers (2 front/2 outdoors), I decided on the Marantz NR1200. The on-screen set up was straightforward, both video and audio were up and running in less than a hour. It's a simple design with phono and multiple HDMI ports including ARC. It's powerful enough to handle my Martin Logan Motion 40 front speakers. If you're not looking for full surround sound, and want to keep it basic, than this is a great little mid-range receiver.

Sleek and Versatile but Underpowered

All the features work correctly. HDMI connection to TV, tone controls, Spotify Connect, etc. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have the full power of 75 watts per channel. I need to turn the volume up to 70 to get my speakers to wake up while my 100 watt integrated amp blasts with only a quarter turn. I will be returning it.

Small size, big performance!

This receiver replaces 20-year-old separates giving me new features and better sound. Set-up can be done with or without a TV but I recommend using the TV - it's much easier. I'm using the receiver for great sound only so I borrowed a small flat panel and completed the set-up connecting a CD carousel, Turntable and FM antenna in no time at all. It turns out I didn't need that big amp after all.

NR1200 needs eARC

I would give the Marantz NR1200 a “5” IF it had eARC.

If I hook up optical cable for my TV audio playthrough, is there any reason to use HDMI if all I want is audio from the TV?
Asked by: Brian
No, with a 2.1 set up the end results will be the same whether using optical or HDMI. Optical audio connections can handle up to 5.1 surround sound. HDMI can go beyond 5.1 and provides video and other information between devices.

Settings instructions (p. 109 of manual) say connect a TV. Can you use a computer monitor instead?

It depends on the connections available on your monitor. If your computer has an HDMI input then you can connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI Monitor Out port on the back of the Marantz NR1200 directly into that monitor.
