Ideal for close-up subjects, the Canon EF-mount Tokina atx-i 100mm f/2.8 FF Macro is a short telephoto macro lens, offering a life-size, 1:1 maximum magnification along with an 11.8" minimum focusing distance. This lens uses a flat-field optical design to yield realistic rendering, void of field curvature, as well as high sharpness and clarity throughout the focusing range. A multilayered coating has also been applied to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and improved color fidelity. Complementing the optics, this lens features a One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism for fast changing between AF and MF settings, and a focus range limiter switch helps to achieve faster focusing performance at close-up distances.

Is this lens better for my Canon EOS 5D Mark III, ...
Is this lens better for my Canon EOS 5D Mark III, or should I get the Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM Lens?
The EF-S 35mm is not a great choice here because it is a crop-sensor lens, and the 5D Mk III is a full-frame camera. In that aspect, the atx-i 100mm macro is a significantly better choice. As to what focal length would best suit your macro photography needs, it would depend on the subject you are photographing and your desired magnification/composition. Apart from this superb lens, other potential options include the Canon L-series EF 100mm macro and the Sigma EF 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art.
