Does the Skywatcher GPS need to stay connected to the hand controller after the coordinates are located for the evening? Can I unplug after fix has been achieved and then plug in other accessories (like Sky-Fi)?

Is this a wifi dongle for the Eq6r pro? I want to use the Synscan App on my Iphone to control my eq6r Pro mount. Will this do it?
No this is not a WiFi dongle!
The other answer is completely wrong. This device is a GPS module that will automatically provide accurate time and location data to you mount. This item is not a Wireless Access Point (WAP) or any other type of communications hub.
