PolarPro BaseCamp Reviews
Horrible polarization on image
The variable ND function from the filters in combination with the CPL creates an atrocious color shift in skin tones and hair at certain angles. Will turn skin highlights completely yellow or hair highlights a deep blue/purple. I do not recommend this if you're using this for professional purposes
Use the money for REAL FILTERs -- and a real MATTE BOX
At $550 USD many consider the Basecamp matte box ND / Polarizer filter system to be a great value. IT IS NOT - unless you needs are very SPECIFICALLY LIMTED. First -- the system is CLOSED. The filters are NON-STANDARD. And base camp makes almost no extra filters. You cannot even buy a simple clear filter if you want to use the matte box without an ND or POLARIZER - which would apply any time one were shooting in doors or at night. They assume you will be happy to just leave the filters in or to take them out and use your lens bare ... Basically, they assume you are always shooting wild extreme action outside in the bright sun. Really. For 1000 USED You can by a decent matte box and PROPER STANDARD filters which can last you your entire career with many varied matte boxes that don't assume you only shoot a narrow range of imagery. I regret the waste of money.
