Great lights, terrible stands

The LED light panels included with this set are a fantastic value, and work great. Don't expect the stands to live beyond a couple of uses, though. In particular, the collars and hinges are made from a soft, deformable plastic that strips out easily, eventually making it impossible to tighten the stands. As a result the stands had to be replaced with better units after only a handful of sessions.

I took a chance on a product with no reviews and I think it paid off. I’ve been using yongnuo air 600 LEDs for basic interviews and I wanted to improve a bit. Those lights are half the price, but you have to buy a separate mount. This light is brighter, a bit larger, softer, and more sturdy than the yongnuo. Color is great too. I used it without any extra diffusion and it was surprisingly soft. More so than I expected. The mount is very sturdy. I used it for an interview yesterday and it was a great key from a couple feet away. We put it on a boom to get it above the talent and close to them, without getting the stand in frame. We used it sideways, which I think helped it wrap around the face more. Overall I’m very happy with it. After using it yesterday I’m keeping it. I just need a small basic kit for lower budgets interviews. I took a chance on a product with no reviews and I think it paid off.

Would this light be good for scanning slides in-camera, similar to the unit used in the B&H video tutorial with Peter Krogh? btw... do you know what light panel Peter is using to scan his slides?
These lights would be fine for scanning slides in camera. In regards to the video that was mentioned, the Kaiser R2N CP Image Capturing Set, B&H # KAR2NICS is being used.

The manufacture does not list for the Smith-Victor SlimPanel 400 Watt Daylight LED Light Lux or beam angle. They only list that it has 400W Tungsten Flood Equivalent. And power consumption is up to 45w.

Generally, these fixtures would be less soft since they are smaller, but that depends on which LED light they are being compared to.
