Zacuto VCT Pro Baseplate

With built-in ergonomic shoulder pad, 10" sliding track, extra space for accessories in front, VCT14-compatible V-wedge, red buttons and levers all around, and much more, this is the stylish VCT Pro Baseplate from Zacuto. Use it with all types of cameras, from DSLRs to larger models, like the Alexa.

A section of the baseplate extends out beyond the 15mm LWS rod adapter in front. With the rod adapter thus set back, you have additional space to mount accessories under the camera lens, allowing you to position the camera further back on the plate, keeping the balance point of your rig directly over your shoulder. (The rod adapter is vertically adjustable 1", and has to be in a raised position to allow for accessories to be mounted in the additional space. Also, a 1.8" riser for the rod adapter is optionally available for RED cameras by special order from Zacuto.) Also, on the bottom of the section that protrudes out is where the V-wedge is. There is also a 15mm LWS rod adapter on the rear.

The VCT Pro Baseplate features a 10" sliding track, providing the space to optimally adjust balance after every lens change. Moreover, the included red camera plate can be loosened by a spring-loaded lever instead of a screw, so you can make adjustments quickly and easily. To fully release and remove the plate (and camera), just press a red button on the side of the baseplate and slide the plate out. The rod ports also have spring-loaded levers.

An ARRI M6 rosette is available on the front for attaching accessories and grips, and there are also three 1/4"-20 threaded holes on the side providing additional mounting options. 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 tripod mount holes are available on the bottom to use instead of the V-wedge. The shoulder pad runs pretty much along the entire length as well as width of the baseplate, and is made of gel polymer. Two 6.5" 15mm rods are included. One 1/4"-20 and one 3/8"-16 screw are supplied for the camera plate. The VCT Pro Baseplate is made in the USA.

Zacuto Rosette Trigger Grip

The Zacuto Rosette Trigger Grip is an adjustable grip relocator for ARRI rosette-mount camera or lens grips. It's designed to attach to camera supports offering an ARRI rosette, including the Zacuto VCT Pro baseplate. The entire unit can be rotated a full 360° at the quick press of a lever, and the component that holds your grip can be adjusted forward and backward with the press of another lever. Unlike with standard handgrips, these levers don't need to be unscrewed and can just be pressed on the fly. The entire unit can also be adjusted in length by loosening another lever.

Zacuto Canon C500 Mark II & C300 Mark III Top Plate

The dedicated Canon C500 Mark II & C300 Mark III Top Plate from Zacuto attaches to the top of your C500 Mark II or C300 Mark III camera body. It features an integrated Z-Rail that enables you to slide an attached handle forward and backward for improved balance. This plate incorporates a single 15mm rod bracket and a grooved mount for the camera's LCD.

The top plate also features multiple 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 threads, as well as ARRI-style anti-twist mounts for attaching accessories.

Features
  • Integrated Z-Rail
  • Single 15mm rod bracket
  • Enables forward and backward top handle adjustment
  • Multiple 3/8"-16, 1/4"-20, and ARRI-style threads
Zacuto Recoil Handle

The Zacuto Recoil Handle is a maple-wood-lined handgrip that mounts to a Z-Rail or compatible mounting rail. This provides a comfortable yet secure handle for your camera rig, and the rail-style mounting allows you to adjust the handle along the length of the rail to improve your rigs balance. It features two cold shoe mounts (one vertical and one horizontal) and secures both mounts with a single lever. The integrated 1/4"-20 threaded mounting hole, and 15mm rod clamps further expand on the Recoil Handle's usefulness.

Machined aluminum construction provides a balance of strength and weight, and the unit is anodized for corrosion and wear resistance. Large, spring-loaded locking levers provide a good grip and the capability of tightening the clamps without rotating the levers throughout the entire 360° range.

Key Features
The Recoil Handle clamps securely along the length of a Zacuto Z-Rail, allowing you to adjust the balance of your camera or camera rig. In addition to the Z-Rail, the handle is compatible with a variety of rails including: NATO, SWAT, RED, Picatinny, and Wooden Camera. You can mount the handle with the cold shoes or the rod clamps.
The maple-wood grip linings remain cool in hot weather and are generally considered to be more comfortable to hold. The wood is tooled to provide finger slots for increased comfort and grip.
The two cold shoes incorporate built-in stoppers and a single lever clamps both shoes simultaneously, securing your accessories. A 1/4"-20 accessory mounting point is threaded into the side of the cold shoe mounts.
Two offset 15mm rod clamps allow you to mount rods at right angles to each other. Each rod clamp features its own spring-loaded locking lever.

Zacuto Z-VCT-P Reviews

My company purchased this kit last year to accompany a C300 mkiii, and while I usually don't write reviews, I've become so frustrated with this kit that I have to warn others. The first thing I noticed when I started using it is the top handle becomes loose, and I'd always need to tighten one of the phillips head screws. These screws, mind you, are what converts the handle from the proprietary z rail to your standard NATO mount. Just make it a NATO mount handle. It also never made sense where the 15mm attachment is on the handle, would make much more sense at the front than the back for attaching a monitor. The cheese plate is okay, but it locks you into their proprietary Z rail mount, which again is just a perpendicular NATO mount, so you have to use their top handle (unless you get a separate mount, which is what I've had to do to use a better handle.) The cheese plate also includes a 15mm attachement, but on the C300 mk iii, this hole is blocked by the camera anyway. Now the VCT plate. The rods attach at about 1/2, so not terribly secure, and while you can raise or lower the rods, I'm not able to lower them enough to fit a standard matte box on my rig (my lenses are on the larger side, but still.) I had thought this company was somewhat trusted, but this is a rather poorly designed product. It's usable, just poorly designed for professional use in my opinion. Would not recommend.
