What kind of connection is on the rear side of the enclosure?
Asked by: Mike
the manufacturer does not specify but based on the specified bus speed it would have to be some form of PCIE connection on the dock https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1529924-REG/atech_flash_technology_bj_0122_r01_4_bay_cinema_dock_system.html or a proprietary equivalent to be able to sustain the NVME data rates and pass that through thunderbolt 3

Can I install a M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4, NVMe SSD in this unit? I need higher read and write speeds.
Asked by: Soph
You can use an M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD in the BLACKJET DX-1M M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure for TX-4DS & TX-2DS Cinema Docks; however, the speeds would not be any faster than a PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD, as that's the interface the enclosure uses.

Can I install any regular m.2 in this unit? Maybe a Crucial 4TB P3 NVMe PCIe 3.0 M.2?
Asked by: Paul
Standard M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSDs are compatible with the Blackjet DX-1M M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure for TX-4DS & TX-2DS Cinema Docks, and as such, the Crucial 4TB P3 NVMe PCIe 3.0 M.2 should be appropriate.
