Is the cross bar durable enough to be used for an overhead photography rig? Specifically Canon EOS R + 50mm f/1.8.
No, the problem with doing that is bending the internal connections of each pole ultimately making them impossible to connect. I don't even use the poling for backdrops longer than 12 feet as many do. It's a great system for light backdrops, even seamless paper. You just have to be gentle with them.

5 or 8 feet. While the middle may sag slightly, the rolls remain straight. I use seamless paper all the time with this backdrop and have no issues at all. I am very gentle on my equipment and do not rush set up or break down. That's when you create problems with the system. If you take care of the system, it will be there for you.

Can I extend the width beyond 12' by purchasing two or will the bar sag?
The crossbar included in the Impact BGS-S12-V2 Background Support System (12') has a maximum length of 12 feet (3.66 meters) and cannot be extended. We do not have accessories designed to extend the width of the crossbar, and attempting to do so would be unsafe.

Are these stands Impact's LS-10ABI 10' light stands? Specs for the kit indicate collapsed length of roughly 40", but the light LS-10ABI collapse to 33.5".
Kirk,
Thanks. Can you elaborate? I'm looking for a backdrop kit that has 10' stands with a wide (40" or so) footprint, like the LS-10ABI, that I could also use for monolights. Any suggestions? Should I just buy a pair of LS-10ABIs and a crossbar and bag?
