The rig works with DSLRs and camcorders, and it features a configuration of a shoulder pad, a pair of rubber handgrips, and an adjustable Z-shaped rod clamp for 15mm rods. The Manfrotto quick release plate can be used to securely mount a camera or cage kit, enabling fast switching between devices without replacing the quick release assembly. The rig features 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting points for separately available accessories, and you can also attach any 15mm rod accessory mount to your rig.

Would this work with the Canon XA40 Video Camera?
Yes it would work with XA40. However, one of the reasons you have a XA40 is the size and convenience because the are so compact and self contained. I used this to rig up a blackmagic pocket 4k with cinema lens and camera with follow focus external monitor, matte box, and battery pack, it works well for that rig. With your XA40 it does not have interchangeable lens and has built in XLR mic jacks. I use a Panasonic HC-X1500 which is similar, in other words works best handheld.
