Apple Mac Pro with Afterburner Card

Encased within an aluminum housing that completely lifts off for 360° access to the entire system, Apple has completely redesigned the Mac Pro, creating a modular tower system that delivers performance, expansion, and configurability. Designed for professionals who want to push the limits of what a Mac can do, the Mac Pro will serve those who require extreme CPU performance for workflows such as production rendering, 3D film animation, 8K compositing, building complex 3D environments, analyzing huge data sets, running multiple pro applications, playing hundreds of virtual instruments, simulating an app on a dozen iOS devices simultaneously, and other large projects. With a six-channel memory architecture, twelve physical memory slots, and eight PCIe slots, you'll be able to customize and expand the Mac Pro in ways not previously possible.

This Mac Pro is powered by a 3.2 GHz Intel Xeon W 16-core processor and 38MB of cache memory. The processor can be overclocked to 4.4 GHz, and there is also 48GB of 2933 MHz DDR4 ECC memory. There is 1TB of NVMe SSD storage. Encrypted by the Apple T2 security chip, the SSD module delivers sequential read speeds of up to 2.6 GB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 2.7 GB/s. Visuals are handled by a single AMD Radeon Pro Vega II Duo graphics card. Graphics performance is further boosted by the included Afterburner card, which accelerates ProRes and ProRes RAW codecs in Final Cut Pro X and QuickTime Player X. It can also playback up to three streams of 8K ProRes RAW or twelve streams of 4K ProRes RAW.

Additional connectivity is provided by Apple's half-length PCIe 3.0 x4 I/O card, which offers two 5 Gb/s USB 3.0 Type-A ports and two 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which use the USB Type-C interface and support 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2/3.2 Gen 2 and DisplayPort. The top of the system has two more Thunderbolt 3 ports and all Thunderbolt 3 ports are supported by DisplayPort connections stemming from the GPU. Wired network connectivity is established using dual 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports for a more reliable and stable connection, or take advantage of Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for wireless connectivity, and pair wireless peripherals with your system via Bluetooth 5.0.

Apple's Mac Pro includes their Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad, Magic Mouse 2, a USB Type-C to Lightning cable, and a power cord. Protection is provided by a limited 1-year warranty and 90 days of free technical support.

    Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel

    The DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel from Blackmagic Design is a step-up in functionality from the Micro panel but without all the features of the Advanced panel. It is a portable control surface suitable for those that need to switch between editing and color grading. It can sit on your desk top, in a rack, or be bolted to a surface. As with the Micro panel, it features three high-resolution, weighted trackballs and 12 control knobs for accessing essential primary color-correction tools in the Resolve software. 18 dedicated keys on the right side also give you access to the most commonly used grading features and playback controls.

    However, the Mini Panel also features two LCD screens that allow you to display menus or the parameters of the tools you are working with. Eight customizable soft knobs provide precise control and a quick reset by pushing the knob. Dedicated feature buttons allow you to change tools without needing to use the mouse. The Mini panel incorporates a USB Type-C and Ethernet interface. It is compatible with Mac, Windows, and select Linux systems. You can power the panel via an AC power source, a 4-pin XLR connector, or PoE. For the panel to work with Resolve, your computer must be running DaVinci Resolve 14.3 or DaVinci Resolve Studio 14.3 or later. An included USB 3.0 Type-A to USB Type-C cable provides backward compatibility for systems that are limited to USB Type-A connectors.

    Primary Correction Creative Control Knobs

    Control knobs are grouped into four sets of three knobs

    Luminance

    • Y Lift Control: Adjust the contrast of the image in the darker areas, specifically in the Y (luminance) channel only. This adjustment allows changing the black point without changing saturation.
    • Y Gamma Control: Adjust the contrast of the image in the mid-tone areas, specifically in the Y (luminance) channel only. This control helps add depth and extra vibrancy to shots
    • Y Gain: You can reduce hot spots or tweak the whites to define a look.

    Contrast

    • Contrast Control: Increase contrast to make the blacks darker and the whites brighter, or decrease contrast to do the opposite.
    • Pivot: Change the center of tonality about which dark and bright parts of the image are stretched or narrowed during a contrast adjustment.
    • Mid-Tone Detail: Affect the contrast of regions of the image with high edge detail to increase or decrease the perception of image sharpness and definition. Often used for softening facial features making it popular for beauty shots.

    Detail

    • Color Boost Control: Raise the saturation in regions of the image with low saturation while leaving properly saturated areas alone. Also known as a vibrance operation, this is useful for adding color without over-saturating the image.
    • Shadow Control: Selectively lighten or darken shadow detail without affecting your images mid-tones.
    • Highlight Control: Enable retrieving blown-out highlight detail in high dynamic range media by lowering this parameter. This allows you to achieve a smooth blend between the retrieved highlights and unadjusted mid tones for a natural-looking image.

    Saturation

    Increases or decreases overall image saturation — you can turn your color image into a grayscale image with this control.

    • Hue Control: Rotates all hues of the image around 360° of the color wheel. The default setting is 50, which retains the original distribution of hues.
    • Luminance Mix Control: Controls the balance between the YRGB adjustments and Y only adjustments made using the Y channel lift, gamma, and gain controls.
    The system powers from either AC power or a 12 VDC source via the 4-pin XLR connector.
    The Mini panel can sit on a desktop, be mounted in a rack, or mounted to a surface to prevent theft or be used in a moving vehicle or on a cart.

    Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard

    Made for DaVinci Resolve 16 and above, the DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard from Blackmagic Design features an all-metal construction and has professional edit keys and a high-quality search wheel, allowing you to edit with both hands. For example, you can control the position within a clip with the right hand while setting in and out points and applying edits with the left. Based on feedback from professionals, it even has subtle design features such as empty space above certain keys, so they can be located by touch. It's designed to plug into USB Type-C computer ports and works without any batteries. It can be used on a desktop or inset into a console via a flange.

    Metal Design with Premium Keys

    The all-metal design includes keys with a tiered profile, instead of flat keys, so it's easy to feel your way around. The key switches are the same type used by eSports keyboards and each key is certified for over a million operations. The integrated search dial is machined from solid metal and allows for very precise transport and trimming control. There's also a handrest with a soft feel to help reduce fatigue. Plus, the keys caps, handrest, and key switches are all available as spare parts so the keyboard can be refreshed and repaired over time.

    Integrated Search Dial Control

    The metal search dial features rubber coating and is designed with multiple roller bearings that allow for smooth operation. There's an integrated electronic clutch that creates end stops when used for shuttle and position. The dial can also be spun in jog mode to allow a natural timeline scroll. The jog control allows free movement for precise positioning of the playback point. Shuttle uses the clutch, and you can rotate forward and reverse wind to move up and down the timeline. Scroll allows scrolling up and down a long edit to navigate quickly.

    Fast Source Tape Allows Scrolling Clips

    The innovative source button instantly creates a "source tape" of all the clips in your bin. Now you can simply scroll up and down all your media without the need to navigate thousands of clips. The clip being viewed is also highlighted in the bin in real time. Switching between the source tape and timeline is instant.

    Instantly Re-Sort Bin and Source Tape

    The source tape uses your bin's sort order, so you get lots of control over how shots are organized. This gives you the flexibility to find shots by time, camera, duration, or even clip name. The moment one of the bin sort buttons is selected, the source tape will be regenerated in that bin's sort order. Simply scroll up and down the source tape to find the shots needed. Sort by timecode to see all the bin media sorted by time, which is highly useful for content shot in time order, such as live events. You can also sort by camera, ideal for multicamera shoots where you lay down the wide shot first and then look for cutaways on other cameras. You can even sort by duration and the clip name.

    Fast In and Out Points

    The in and out point buttons are designed large, and a small empty space is provided above them to allow locating them by feel. That helps when doing transport control with your right hand and punching in and out points using your left hand. When you select in and out points in the DaVinci Resolve cut page, you also trim clips. Once the in and out points are set, just reach your fingers up to the edit buttons. The in and out points can also be used to contract the source tape to limit the clips included. Then you can change the source tape back to the whole bin by pressing the Escape key.

    Intelligent Keyboard Edit Modes

    The editing functions are located just above the in and out keys, to allow a simple movement of your fingers to activate the edit you require. Because editing with a keyboard is quite different to editing on a computer's user interface, the editing functions have been optimized to take advantage of the speed of a keyboard. Most edits can be performed on the source clip without needing to place edit points on the timeline itself, eliminating time wasted switching between source and timeline. The edit points can automatically locate the nearest timeline edit or even match timecode. A good example is Smart Insert, which locates the nearest edit and inserts at that point.

    Smart Insert

    Smart Insert is similar to the traditional insert edit function; however, it's smarter as it eliminates the need to switch to the timeline and place an in point. All you need to do is select smart insert and it will locate the nearest edit in the timeline and insert the clip in that location.

    Append to End

    Append to End is useful for building edits fast. Simply select an in and out point and then Append to End will add the clip to the end of the edit and increase the timeline duration. Append to End is great when adding shots to an edit from content that's been shot in time order.

    Ripple Overwrite

    Ripple Overwrite is a popular edit function and it lets you replace shots extremely quickly. When applied, it will replace the clip in the timeline with the selected clip, and if the clip is a different length, it will adjust the space to accommodate the new clip and ripple the timeline duration.

    Close Up

    Close Up is best for creating two camera angles from one camera. Simply shoot your subject with a wide or mid shot, and then when a close-up is applied, it will create a slightly zoomed-in version of the same camera shot and place it on top of the timeline. Plus, you can also apply it to a clip in the timeline.

    Place on Top

    Place on Top is similar to traditional edit functions and it will place the clip on the top of the background layer that's already in the timeline. If the timeline doesn't have a layer above the background layer, Place on Top will add a new timeline track and then place the clip on top.

    Source Overwrite

    Source Overwrite is a faster alternative to multicam. It automatically matches source timecode to the source timecode of the clip in the timeline and places the clip on top. If you shoot with multiple cameras and sync timecode, you can lay other camera angles on a base wide shot layer.

    Search Dial Live Trimming

    With a high-quality search dial built in, you get an accurate and fast way to trim edit points. The roll buttons allow the keyboard to take control of the search dial and very precisely adjust edit trimming. You can select the trim mode with your left hand while adjusting the trim with your right. Using roll trimming is easy and is operated by pressing and holding one of the roll buttons, depending on the type of trim you need to do, while then rotating the search dial. There's also a trim editor button on the numeric keypad that allows a direct switch to trim mode, so you can scroll up and down the edit points in a timeline to allow locating and adjusting multiple edits fast.

    Roll In

    Roll In is very similar to adjusting trim in on the software; however, it's a modifier key on the keyboard. Using roll in on a transition adjusts the in point of the destination clip, while adjusting roll in on a clip adjusts its in point. All adjustments will ripple the timeline duration.

    Roll Out

    Roll Out is very similar to adjusting trim out on the software but it's a modifier key on the keyboard. Using Roll Out on a transition adjusts the out point of the source clip, while adjusting roll out on a clip adjusts its out point. All adjustments will ripple the timeline duration.

    Roll Transition

    Roll Transition is similar to the roll edit. It works by rolling the transition between two clips and has the same effect as simultaneously adjusting the in point on the destination clip while adjusting the out point on the source clip. Roll edit does not affect timeline duration.

    Roll Source

    Roll Source is the same as slipping the source clip and it will move the shot up and down within the current clip's in and out points. Roll source allows slipping the clip within the same duration so it won't affect the overall timeline duration.

    Roll Destination

    Roll Destination is the same as slipping the destination clip and it will move the shot up and down within the current clip's in and out points. Roll destination allows slipping the clip within the same duration so it won't affect the overall timeline duration.

    Roll Duration

    Roll Duration is designed to allow you to change the transition length of any effect that has been applied to an edit point. When selected, adjusting the search dial will interactively adjust the duration of the transition. Because you can select the transition type, you can use roll duration to get the transition perfect.

    Select and Change Transitions Instantly

    Editing software is slow at adding transitions because it requires using drag and drop to place a transition, or a keyboard shortcut for only one transition type. With DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard you can press a key and add or remove a transition with a single button press. The Cut key will remove any transition on an edit point and leave it as a simple edit between the two clips. Pressing Dissolve will add a one second dissolve between the two clips, and using Roll Duration will set the desired transition length. Plus, if there is already a dissolve on the edit, then the key will be ignored. There's also a smooth cut button to allow jump cuts to be removed at the press of a button.

    Improved QWERTY Key Layout

    The DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard features a revised QWERTY key layout based on feedback from professional editors. The new features in the revised layout include a viewer button to allow instant switching to full screen view. However, you still get all the traditional editing features for both the cut and edit pages in DaVinci Resolve, so the core QWERTY part of the keyboard still operates in a familiar way.

    Direct Timecode Entry Keypad

    When entering edit points and durations numerically, there's a keypad specifically designed for timecode entry. The F/TC button allows switching between timecode or frames. Just press the F/TC button and the entry changes to frames. When typing longer timecode values, there's also a double zero button so you don't have to press the standard zero key as often. The plus and minus keys allow time values as offsets to current values rather than absolute entries. A dedicated duration entry button allows you to numerically define the duration of a clip. Numeric duration entry is one of the most used functions. For example, if you need to set a 100-frame duration on a clip, just press DUR, F/TC, and 100.

    Designed for the Desktop or Inset into a Console

    Although the DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard has been designed with a modern aesthetic, there's also function to the form. The subtle edge created by the mating of the top keyboard surface and the lower chassis has a pinstripe feel to the design. There are also fold-out rear feet to increase the keyboard tilt. However, the flange has a functional benefit as you can install the keyboard in a cutout of a desk or console. The keyboard will then sit almost perfectly flat on the desk surface.

    The Apple 32" Pro Display XDR 16:9 Retina 6K HDR IPS Display is built with a 32" IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel featuring a 6016 by 3384 6K resolution with Retina display technology that produces crisp, vivid images. As somewhat of a one-size-fits-all solution, the Pro Display XDR is well suited for multitasking and its 6K resolution with a 32" viewing area is plenty to work with. For photo and design-focused users, it's a large canvas that lets you fit all your content, tools, and anything else you'd like, on one screen. Likewise, video editors and audio engineers can stretch out their workflow to get a macro-view of their project. As a cherry on top, its 218 ppi (pixels per inch) rating helps to deliver sharp and detailed images. The Pro Display XDR's main connectivity option is a single Thunderbolt 3 port, which supports up to 96W of host charging, and it has three USB 2.0 Type-C ports for charging and syncing other devices. With the power of Thunderbolt 3, users can daisy-chain up to six displays to their accompanying Mac Pro.

    Design

    The Pro Display XDR has a sleek and refined all-aluminum chassis with 9mm borders. This reduction in bezel size offers a more immersive viewing experience whether you're hard at work or taking a breather. Either or, users can kick back and relax thanks to its wide viewing angles, which preserve color and image quality. The honeycomb design on the back is meant to act as a heatsink, which keeps it cool while operating at high brightness levels.

    Finish

    The Apple Pro Display XDR is available in two versions: one with a standard glass finish and another with nano-texture glass. Both are engineered for low reflectivity, but the nano-texture finish offers enhanced glare reduction for those who are a bit more sensitive or work under harsh lighting conditions.

    XDR

    XDR stands for Extreme Dynamic Range and is essentially HDR (High Dynamic Range) at Apple's standards. The backlighting consists of an array of 576 LEDs that can sustain a brightness level of 1000 cd/m² and can even reach up to 1600 cd/m² for a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio to truly emphasize the differences between light and dark.

    Color Accuracy & Calibration

    Featuring a P3-wide color gamut and 10-bit color depth for 1.073 billion colors, the Pro Display is ideal for color-critical work. Additionally, its 576 LEDs are also individually calibrated and work with an algorithm that modulates their intensity to produce the best possible image.

    Reference Modes

    To adapt to the variety of standards content creators work with in media such as digital cinema (P3-DCI), photography (P3-D65), HDTV video (BT.709-BT.1886), design and print (P3-D50), Internet and web (sRGB), etc., Reference Modes reconfigure the display to match. It optimizes values like color space, white point, gamma, and brightness. Alternatively, users can also set up their own custom profile as needed.

    True Tone technology

    True Tone technology on the Pro Display XDR utilizes two ambient light sensors, one on the front and one on the back, to measure and then to adjust the color intensity of the display for accurate colors based on your environment.

    Optional Stand & VESA Adapter

    Since the Pro Display XDR does not come with a stand, users can purchase either the Pro Stand or VESA adapter for mounting.

    G-Technology G-SPEED Shuttle XL 48TB 8-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array with Two ev Bay Adapters (6 x 8TB)

    Built to support for video workflows on location and in the studio that require large capacities, high-powered performance, and multiple RAID configurations for multi-stream 4K, 8K, and VR workflows, the G-SPEED Shuttle XL 48TB 8-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array from G-Technology provides up to 48TB of enterprise-class storage that is made up of six 8TB 7200 rpm 3.5" hard drives and is equipped with two 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 3 ports. While one of the Thunderbolt 3 ports is used to interface with your host system at speeds of up to 1500 MB/s, the other can be used to daisy chain up to five additional devices to your G-SPEED.

    In addition to the six 3.5" drive bays, this array also has two Evolution (ev) Series drive bays that support ev Series drive modules. If there is data that needs to be copied off the array's 3.5" drives, it can be copied to the ev Series modules, which may then be removed from the array and transported or mailed with more ease than a 3.5" drive. ev Series modules can also be used to adapt memory cards, such as the RED MINI-MAG, so that content may be transferred to and from the array.

    The six drive bays of the G-SPEED come pre-configured as hardware-controlled RAID 5, which provides a good balance of performance and data redundancy. Also supported is RAID 0, 1, 6, and 10. Please bear in mind that the ev Series drive bays may only be configured as RAID 0, 1, and JBOD.

    The G-SPEED Shuttle XL 48TB 8-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array comes formatted for macOS 10.12+. After a simple reformat, it may also be used with Windows 10 and 7. Also included is a 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 3 cable, a power cord, and six removable disk modules, and two ev Series bay adapters. Protection is provided by a limited 5-year warranty.

    Apple Pro Stand

    The Apple Pro Stand, designed for the Apple Pro Display XDR, features a puck-shaped magnetic connector for quick and easy installation and removal. With it, users can adjust the display to best fit their viewing preferences, including both portrait and landscape modes. To remove it, unlock the slider and tilt the display to release the magnets before lifting the display from the stand.
