I've tried using small sliders with my FX6, large ...
I've tried using small sliders with my FX6, large head and movement. However with the other slider, I got a lot of "play" when tilting the camera up or down with a good amount of resistance set, to make it smooth. My rig is only about 25 pounds, and sits about 12 inches above the slider due to the size of the sachtler activ 8 head. Does this slider have play that it will torque and twist, if you have a decent size rig and tight tripod head? or is it totally solid?
This slider is definitely solid for large setups but we also recommend using two tripods or stands for additional support.

Is there an easy way to mount this slider on a tripod without half ball mount?
Yes, the Syrp Magic Carpet PRO Short Slider Kit with Extension (60") (B&H# SYKIT0021H) can be mounted on flat top tripods just as easily as it could be mounted on those with bowls and half balls. If your concern is the leveling of the slider, however, then please note that it may also be mounted directly on multiple tripods using tripod heads that are not mounted on half balls, too.
