The pinestone Retrospective Backpack 15L from Think Tank Photo is a soft canvas bag with a retro style designed to mold and contour to your body for comfort while backpacking through rough terrain or on a cross-country adventure.

The main compartment holds a camera kit and has dividers that can be adjusted to accommodate different setups. All your camera equipment is accessible through the backpack's rear or top panels, and the dedicated laptop pocket will hold most 15" laptops.

The 5-liter top compartment can be used to store personal articles, and additional space in the front organizer pocket holds your wallet, smartphone, or pens. The wide comfortable backpack straps have an adjustable sternum strap, and a removable webbing waist belt to take some of the weight off your shoulders.

The exterior of the bag is equipped with accessory straps that are compatible with Think Tank's modular pouches, and collapsible pockets on each side of the bag hold a water bottle or a tripod. The canvas of the bag has been treated with DWR to repel water, and a rain cover is included for those days when there is a heavy downpour.

Wish it had a bin insert for the top 25-30% of the bag instead of fidgeting with the inserts to rig one, however, awesome build quality and pretty solid capacity. I store Sony A6400 70-350G 18-135 Viltrox 23mm 2 batteries Flash Charger 8 filter Filter case Tripod Hydroflask water bottle Rain cover 1L tech pouch containing cords, battery bank, accessories, ect. Notebook Pens Valuables pouch with flashlights pocket knives, ect Wipes and microfibers MacBook 15in or iPad Pro And still have enough room for a puffer, rain jacket, or wind breaker!

I bought this backpack to use as a carryon when I travel with my camera. I had to work with the dividers to get the configuration I liked. You can configure it so that the camera is accessible from both back and top OR only the top (I've included a manufacturer diagram that shows both options). I tried both and I preferred the latter so I can leave the bottom space open for more lenses or my clothing when I travel. My Nikon Zf is also more snug in this configuration. I also like that there's a zippered top in addition to the outer flap. This is not a backpack for fast access - you will take it off your back and unzip the back OR unbuckle and unzip the top. This is fine for my planned purposes. I would recommend Think Tank's Urban Access sling or backpack if side access is important. The camera and lenses in my photos = Nikon Zf, 50mm 1.8s, 26mm, Voigtlander 42mm and 75mm.

Can you use the webbing waist belt to access the camera without taking off your backpack, just rotating the backpack?

Yes, possibly, but the belt is rather thin compared to other packs with much wider belts. The belt is not meant to be used that way but in a pinch, I suppose you could but not for long periods of time.

The Think Tank Photo Retrospective Backpack 15L is rated to fit up to a 15-inch laptop. While it can easily handle a camera and two small / medium lenses, a 16-inch MacBook Pro is too large for the dedicated laptop compartment.
