DPi stands for dots per linear inch, a common way to measure mouse sensitivity. There can be higher dpi, than the mouse - but for an average mouse for an average use person it is just right.

The higher the DPI, the more sensitive the mouse is. That is, you move the mouse even a tiny bit, the pointer will move a huge distance across the screen. If a mouse has 1600 DPI, then, if you move your mouse one inch (2.54 cm), the mouse pointer will move 1600 pixels. You can adjust this sensitivity up or down.
