Gator GFWSPK0250 Reviews

Light weight but just too weak to use

It says rated for 60lbs but even a Turbosound IP300 at 26lbs will slide the upper pole down since the plastic clamp can't do much. There's no locking pin so I've had these fall down on their own and we can't clamp it tighter since the plastic clamps bend without clamping more. This has exactly the same pictures and specs as the Yorkville and On-stage mini speaker stands as well. It appears that like they use the same unit and stick on various brand names. Naturally we don't expect much for $20-30 but this one is too weak and short for a speaker since even at max extension the speaker ends up at around 4 - 5ft high depending on your speaker. It folds up quite small and is light weight but doesn't have much purpose as a speaker stand since it's too short even if the audience was seated. You can see in the photos that the metal tubing is smaller than a speaker stand fitting so it's expanded out on the end to fit a speaker socket. Maybe it would work to put a light weight accessory on it. It should definitely should not say 60lbs, that's If they rated this for 10-15 lbs I wouldn't bother to write a review but rated at 60lbs is not telling the truth.
