The TV has RCA composite video and four HDMI inputs to support multiple source components. The answer is not easily found and TVs sometimes use a combination of these technologies. I can tell you, according to Sony, this is a flicker-free edge lit LCD/LED.

Yes, this can be used as a TV. You will miss out on features such as smart options, Dolby Vision HDR and other picture processing to improve the image.
