Merging the sound quality of the rackmount Symphony I/O Mk II with the simplicity of the Duet and Quartet, the Apogee Electronics Symphony Desktop offers musicians and producers premium Apogee fidelity, flexible I/O, and powerful plug-in processing in a travel-friendly form factor.

With emulations of vintage British and American mic preamps, DSP/native Apogee FX plug-ins, and multiple zero-latency plug-in workflows, the Symphony Desktop puts you in complete control of your tone. Thanks to its color touchscreen and large control knob, the Symphony Desktop provides easy operation and comprehensive visual feedback.

Record mic-, line-, or instrument-level signals through the variable-impedance, high-gain preamps and use the monitor outputs and assignable headphone jacks for listening to the main mix or an alternate source. Expand your setup by connecting external digital equipment to the optical TOSLINK ports, which support 8-channel ADAT or 2-channel S/PDIF protocols.

I recently upgraded to this unit from the UA Twin. Apogees flagship converters in this little unit are amazing. Perfect unit for vocals or tracking single instruments. Definitely recommend.

Apogee are once again outdoing themselves, that's my favorite interface right now, also have RME & UAD but Apogee just kills it!

I upgraded my Apogee Element 24 to this new Symphony Desktop interface. The first thing I noticed was the quality of the headphone preamp.  I don't have a well treated room in my apartment. So mixing with headphone(Sennheiser HD650 is my main workhorse) is my usual practice. Element 24 has a solid HP. But the HP on Symphony Desktop gives me even better details and clearer bottom end on frequency spectrum. Compared to Symphony Desktop, the HP on Element was a bit muddy at the bottom end. The sound stage is also noticeably wider with symphony desktop. For mic preamp, I haven't done any comparison yet. I'll update this post when I have time to do it.

Unit was completely dead on arrival. I was so pumped to get this interface only to be in utter shock of it not turning on. Some quality issues here from Apogee. I think the big encoder knob wasn't mounted properly and didn't depress as it should. Kinda blows as thats the ONLY way to turn on the unit. Had to pay for the shipping back to B&H as it went out of the country as well. Horrible experience product wise but I must say B&H's return apart from having to pay for the return shipping was smooth. Not sure I'll re-order a similar unit from B&H as in the past I've had another big distributor pay for the return shipping for a DOA unit.
