Does this cover protect the shotgun microphone?
Does this cover protect the shotgun microphone?
Not really. The cover is long enough to provide some cover for short shotgun mics but ultimately your audio will be compromised by the rain cover itself. for example if you use this in the rain the sound of rain hitting the cover will be much louder than your subject simply because the rain hitting the rain slicker is so much closer to the microphone than your subject.
It is best to take the microphone off the camera and have a dedicated mount with dedicated protection for the shotgun microphone to get the best audio when using this in inclement weather.
