Astera Titan Tube FP1 Overview

With a wide 120° beam spread, the Astera Titan Tube RGB LED Tube Light is ideal for creating a soft direct light on your subject for use as an accent light or design element on location or on set. Suitable for cine, theatrical, and event productions, the wireless tube is powered by an integrated battery that will give you 20 hours of runtime on a three-hour charge. The light outputs up to 785 lux at 3.3' (4000K) and features 16 LED emitters in a 3.4' long tube that you can mount onto a set or on a stand, hang from a grid, or even hold in your bare hand. The Titan Tube has an impressive CRI/TLCI rating of 96/96, indicating high accuracy in the rendition of color. It uses RGB, mint, and amber LEDs as well as hue, saturation, and intensity control to access millions of custom colors.

Color and control are at the heart of the Titan Tube's design. The tube has an expansive white light range of 1750 to 20,000K to seamlessly blend into any ambient light situation or just exercise creative expression. You can make these adjustments locally on the fixture, or remotely via several ways such as from a console with Titan Tube wired to it. Wireless DMX, CRMX, and other types of units can adjust functions at distances up to 990'. There's also an AsteraApp that lets you control the light via Bluetooth and IR control via an optional remote. The Titan Tube ships without a power supply. Choose between an optional AC adapter and a PowerBox.

Control
  • You can use the Astera infrared remote control (not included) by simply pointing it at individual lights to set the desired effect.
  • The downloadable AsteraApp is an efficient way to quickly create a customized light show using your smart device. It can group several lights, address individual lights or groups of lights, and send complex effects with a user-defined color palette to all lights in the range.
  • The light can also be controlled by CRMX (wireless DMX), as the built-in receiver is compatible with all LumenRadio CRMX transmitters.

The lights give visual and audible alarms and send notifications to the AsteraApp if they are being moved during an event.
Flicker-Free Filming
Scrambled PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) technology is used to prevent flickering when filming the lights.
Scheduled Standby Mode
You can switch the Astera Titan Tube into standby mode to save power, and schedule it to wake up when the event starts.
DJ Application
Auto BPM analyzes the beat and matches programs to it, and flash buttons can trigger special effects.
Dynamic Power Boost
The dynamic power boost feature enables the light to display the maximum brightness at all times and intensify non-white colors.
Emergency Lights
It switches to white light when AC power is cut to keep your event safe.
Other Features
The AsteraApp is packed with many additional items and new features are frequently added via software updates.

Horrible Build Quality & Overpriced

They are only revered in Hollywood because they were the first “quality” brand to mass-produce - however since becoming insanely popular, their quality control has utterly sunk. After using a few of these, both began to stop working due to the PCB board separating from the inside, ensuring power was lost. The folks at Astera said this is a known issue and it’s because I drive with them in the car. They advised that I stop using their products in any situations where vibrations occur. They advised to slap the front of the tube where the LCD screen is to get it to work again. I did this for a week, until my hand shattered the tube. Thanks guys. This has happened to ALL of my Titan tubes. These tubes don’t even come with a charger for their outrageous price tag, and their app is horrible. I have since upgraded to the Aperture Infinibar's, and not only are they better built, they come with adjustable magnets (built in), a charger, and a padded carrying case, all for a few hundred dollars cheaper than these worthless Astera Titan Tubes. Save yourself the money, and skip these.

No need to promote these!

I have no need to promote these lights as the proof is in the pudding. Very well design and you could literally use them on every shoot you do in one way or another. We wish the case wasn't so heavy but not sure there's away around that one

Does this $45 charger: https://bhpho.to/3fud8Jn, act as a power supply as well? For instance can I run the tube all day at full power using this charger or do I need the $850 Astera PowerBox?

It will act as a power supply, but it is not recommended to do so. It is preferable to operate the light off of battery power. At full intensity for an extended duration (even with the Power Box) you run the risk of your light overheating.

The charging case included with the purchase of the Astera Set of 8 Titan Tubes with Charging Case is not waterproof. Astera does not have an IP rating for this charging case.
