Audiolab 6000CDT Overview

Enjoy accurate CD playback with your external DAC or amplifier and the silver Audiolab 6000CDT CD Transport. It uses a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator to control the master clock to virtually eliminate digital distortion during playback; to the same end, the coaxial output receives its signal from a differential line driver. The electromagnetically shielded enclosure helps block EMI from negatively affecting the onboard electronics.

The 6000CDT features optical and digital coaxial outputs, allowing you to run it to two separate DACs or amplifiers to achieve different sound signatures. Its read-ahead digital buffering helps reduce disc-reading failures and helps the transport read scratched and damaged CDs. The 6000CDT can control additional compatible connected components with its dual 12V trigger outputs. A remote control is included as an added convenience.

Temperature-Compensated Crystal Oscillator
The master clock is controlled by a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator, enabling both the optical and digital ports to output low levels of jitter (digital distortion).
Differential Line Driver
The coaxial output is fed from a differential line driver to help ensure a flawless digital signal to your DAC or amplifier.
Electromagnetically Shielded Enclosure
By mounting the transport in its own electromagnetically shielded enclosure with a dedicated power supply, the digital signal extraction from your CDs is as accurate as can possibly be achieved.
Additional Features
  • Slot-loading mechanism
  • Read-ahead digital buffering to reduce disc-reading failures
  • Capable of reading scratched and damaged CDs
  • Automatic equipment activation via dual 12V trigger outputs
  • Display on/off options
  • Auto standby function with on/off options

Audiolab 6000CDT Reviews

Rock solid bargain

I'm assuming that anyone looking at this already knows the benefits of a transport and separate DAC vs a conventional CD player (or DVD player) For an entry level unit, this thing is exceptionally good. First of all, it looks fantastic. Really nice solid case w/ a clean layout. As for sound, it checks all the boxes, PRAT, detail, smoothness, big soundstage.Sounds analog. It did not sound all that great w/ the Toslink optical connection but different story with the coax. Nice hefty remote. An upgrade power cable opens up the soundstage a bit. (I use aftermarket power cables on everything) Not compared to the comparably priced Cambridge, who makes quality gear. (I have a modded DacMagic) This is one of the few pieces of gear I've bought that truly upped my enjoyment of music.

Terrific CD transport

This box does one thing and does it well. It takes the digital info off your CD and sends it out a digital port. It does this with impeccable timing circuits so that there is no measurable jitter in the output data frequency. You will need an off-board DAC to convert the digital to analog signal. This can be a Stand alone DAC, or one that is built into your integrated amp or preamp. Highly recommended.
