Peak Design PL-S-3 Overview

The PL-S-3 Standard Plate from Peak Design is a camera tripod plate that comes with their Capture Camera Clip v3, Travel Tripod, and Clutch camera strap. I wish I’d bought this a LOT sooner. The mounting screw slot allows the plate to be adjusted side-to-side or front-to-back which increases its versatility enormously, and it’s engineered to resist twisting despite its lack of a dedicated no-twist feature. An unglamorous yet elegant little assessory.

The Peak Design Standard Plate is well designed and solidly built. It fits perfectly and securely on my Arca tripod head. This is the second one I've bought, for my Telephoto lens tripod mount so I don't have to keep swapping plates over when I switch lenses. It's compact enough to leave fitted when I put my lens away in its case. I've ordered a few items from B&H now and I've never been disappointed. This was delivered a couple of days ahead of schedule.

The Peak Design PL-S-3 Standard Plate is Arca-Type so it will work with any ball-head that can accept Acra-type plates.

No, this plate is for use in a quick release system that is compatible with an Arca Swiss type head.

The PL-S-3 is only capable with the Peak Design Capture Clip V3, while the PL-S-2 works with all generations of the Capture Clip.

I'm not sure why people are indicating that you can use a V1 base with a V3 plate? It says very clearly on the packaging that it will not work (see my review). You can make it work but it requires that you replace the screws that hold the device together with lower profile screws.
