The Nissin MF18 Macro Ring Flash for Sony is a ringlight flash, specifically designed for use with Sony cameras with ADI / P-TTL capabilities. Featuring a Fine Macro mode, this flash provides highly precise light control from 1/128 to 1/1204 in 1/6 EV steps, to achieve the greatest accuracy. The MF18 is high-speed sync (HSS) capable to 1/8000 second when shooting in TTL or Manual mode (1/1 to 1/64). HSS gives you the freedom to shoot with larger apertures when a shallow depth of field is desired, even when shooting in bright sunlight. The tube flash design is divided in half, allowing you to vary light output depending on the lighting conditions. This design also works in conjunction with the expansion flash head, permitting use of this flash on lenses ranging from 49mm to 82mm in diameter. Specially constructed for the MF18, additional adapter rings can be purchased separately for lens sizes 49, 52, 55, 58, 62,67, 72, 77, and 82mm.

Nissin MF18 Reviews

Poor cable quality

It is a very good flash for dental photography, but unfortunately the cord that connects the flash broke for no reason and left the cables exposed without being able to repair or have spare parts on hand. By leaving the cables exposed, one of them was cut and the flash stopped working. I tried to fix it with tape, but it didn't work. For a flash of that price, it seems to me to be of very poor quality. Dont buy it.

Great Unit

I bought this to replace an older cheap ring light that just stopped working. It is quality built, and I love the iTTL for my Nikon. The last one did not have iTTL and I had to use it on manual mode. The refresh time is fast, the adapter rings work for all of my lenses. Overall very satisfied with this unit for both Macro and fashion photography.

Can you trigger the modelling light from a Sony camera button?
Asked by: Anonymous
According to the user manual, you may only activate the modeling light via the SET button and not via a camera function/button. 1. To switch on the modeling LED lamps, press set for 2 seconds. 2. The LED lamps switch off temporarily when the flash fires, then switch on again for the next shoot. The icon (light bulb) is indicated on the screen. 3. To switch off the modeling LED lamps, press set for 2 seconds.

Can I use this ring light for close up and macro video? Is there a setting for continuous light use?
Asked by: Paul
The Nissin MF18 Macro Ring Flash is a great flash for macro photography. It is a powerful TTL flash with GN16 (82 Ws) at full power, and offers Manual power control from 1/1 to 1/1024. The flash tubes can be controlled independently in Manual mode, or you can set an A:B ratio when using TTL. The MF18 also features 4 LED lights (2 on each side of the ring) that can be quickly toggled on/off by pressing the "Set" button for 2 seconds. If you have any other questions please contact us directly by sending your email to [email protected]. Best Regards,
