Prompter People Prompter PAL-iPAD Overview

The Prompter People PAL12-iPAD-FS Freestanding Teleprompter with Tablet Cradle, 12x12" Glass, and Stand is a flexible teleprompter that mounts onto a stand that you place in front of your camera, thus the term freestanding. The freestanding teleprompter is designed to work with separately available iPads and tablets. It includes a tablet cradle that supports devices up to 12.9" in size, and also includes an adapter that supports smartphones as a prompting source.

The prompter uses a 65/35 beamsplitter glass that is 12 x 12" in size. This provides your talent with a reading range up to 12' away. The prompter folds flat for transport and storage, and it uses a metal frame to hold the glass as well as a black cloth hood to create good contrast and protect the beamsplitter from light contamination. The front of the hood features four 1/4"-20 threaded accessory mounting holes.

The prompter hood and glass mount onto the included stand, making it freestanding from your camera, which is mounted on your tripod.
The included medium duty stand has a height adjustment range of 30 to 80".
The 65/35 low-iron optical quality beamsplitter glass provides a bright overlay of text that can be read from up to 10' away, while remaining invisible to your camera.
Supports most cameras including camcorders, DSLRs, and ENG types.
Aluminum frame provides counterweight-free balance when used with any camera size.
Can be easily folded for secure transport and storage.
An optional sled kit enables mounting the glass, hood, monitor, and your camera on a tripod so the entire unit pans and tilts as one.
An optional 15mm kit enables you to mount the prompter onto a 15mm rod support system, which allows you to hand hold the prompter. Please note that 15mm support rods, shoulder pads or other accessories are not included in the kit.

Does the 15mm rod version allow the rods to be removed for mounting a camera to a separate tripod? Giving me more mount options.

Our 15mm version has a block to receive the 15mm rods you already have. Our Prompter Pal teleprompters are modular and can be purchased to mount on a tripod (sled version) free-standing (stands in front of your camera and tripod) or 15mm so you can mount your existing 15mm rod kit to the prompter. You can switch between these setups quickly and easily assuming you purchase the optional kits.

Yes, the iPad Air 3 fits perfectly onto the iPad holder. The 10x10 denomination refers to the size of the glass the prompter uses.

Instead of mounting the teleprompter system to the tripod, and then my camera rig to the prompter, I’m looking for a system that is more modular. Could I slide the prompter system onto the rails of my camera rig and mount the rig with the plate on it to a tripod, rather than swapping plates around?

the Pal PAL-iPAD-15mm has a block with holes for 15mm rails, it is designed so the prompter can be slid onto the front of your rails. You can leave your camera on your existing tripod.

Is it compatible with the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens, which film is really very wide?

This lens is compatible, but in some situations, it may vignette. It would depend on the camera system you are using the lens on. Sigma makes a 16mm for Sony E mount / Canon EF-M Mount (APS-C crop sensor) and a Micro Four Thirds Mount (4/3's crop sensor). On Micro Four Thirds, with the lens being about 1 inch or less from the glass (in a 16:9 video mode), you should not see any vignetting within the frame. However on an APS-C crop sensor, there you may have some slight vignetting from the top of the frame.

Do you have to use larger f stop or increase gain when using the promoter?

All prompters use beamsplitter glass to reflect a portion of the image. The image is affected by the quality of the glass, Prompterpeople only uses US made optical glass, and the deposition on the beamsplitter. Prompterpeople glass has a 65/35 formulation that cuts the light by approx. ½ stop. So you would probably not have to adjust your camera any differently when using this prompter model.

The Prompter People Prompter Pal Pro 10" Tablet Teleprompter with Tab Grabber Pro (Sled Model) is not recommended for use with the ARRI ALEXA Mini LF and Lens Mount Set (LPL).

No it will not. We recommend a teleprompter like the ProPrompter Desktop (B&H # PRPPDT MFR # PP-DT) which is specifically designed for web cams.
