Could this clamp to a 2 inch thick ceiling joist ...
Could this clamp to a 2 inch thick ceiling joist with enough strength to hold a light+softbox? Or any recommendations?

The little elliptical heads will detach from the rods by loosening the thumb screw. They work nicely with standard 15mm dslr rig rods, giving you all sorts of configuration possibilities.

Hello, can I use a normal 5/8 stud or do I need a long one? Do I have to use the 6.0 pin with collar? Does the stud go directly on the grip head or is it possible to attach it on the super clamp?
Hi ChanilaThis clamp just clamps to a bar and then you can attach several sizes of extension bar to the collar. There aren't any threads for studs on it. So you need to have a bar of some sort to running through the collar to attach your light to. That 6 one would fit but you can go out to very long lengths with sandbags and also add further attachments to a bar if you want. I use it with a mike boom sometimes as an example.
