Key Features
  • RF-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
  • Maximum Magnification: 1:2
  • Minimum Focusing Distance: 1.15'
  • One UD Element
Combining a short-telephoto field of view with a sleek design and close-focusing performance, the Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM is a well-rounded lens for a range of subjects, from portraits to macro subjects. Its close focus design enables working with subject matter as close as 1.15' away with a 1:2 maximum magnification and the STM stepping motor affords impressively quiet and smooth autofocus performance and full-time manual focus override. Helping to create sharp imagery, the lens also features optical image stabilization, along with Hybrid IS, to suppress up to five stops of camera shake for cleaner, steadier shooting. A UD (Ultra low Dispersion) element is also used in the optical design to minimize aberrations and ensure clarity. Additionally, a configurable Control Ring lets you adjust exposure settings, including ISO, aperture, and exposure compensation, from the lens itself.

Will this les fit the Canon T5? Or will i need the EF-S mount connected for it to work?
Asked by: Jenifer
The Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM Lens is for mirrorless cameras and there is no adapter to mount this lens on a EF / EF-S mount camera (e.g., Canon T5). If you are looking for a 85 mm lens, this Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Lens BH #CA8518EF will be a better option.

Does canon offer a true macro for the RF mount?

Does canon offer a true macro for the RF mount?
Asked by: James
If by "true macro" you mean having a magnification ratio of 1:1 or more, yes Canon does offer the RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM which has a 1.4X mag ratio. Interestingly, the 100mm Macro with 1.4X mag costs 1.4 X the price of the 85 mm.

Is the aperture fixed at F2?

Is the aperture fixed at F2?
Asked by: Cesar
No, the largest maximum aperture of this lens is f/2 but its aperture can go lower (i.e. f/4, f/8, f/16, etc.) if necessary. Canon does not have the lowest possible aperture listed for this lens, and we do not have a sample or pre-production copy available for me to test, but I would assume it would at least go to f/22.
