IDX System Technology MC-2U Overview

Charge your Sony BP-U type batteries with the MC-2U 2-Channel Simultaneous Charger from IDX. The MC-2U provides sequential charging for lithium-ion BP-U type batteries, automatically switching to the second battery after fully charging the first. It delivers up to 1.9A of quick-charge current without the noise of a typical charger thanks to a fanless venting system.

The charger features a 12 VDC power output that can power a Sony PMW or PXW camcorder when the charger is connected to a wall outlet, and the battery plates are disabled when using the DC output. Four LED indicators show the percentage status of the battery charge. It can charge a single 98Wh battery in approximately four hours or two 98Wh batteries in approximately seven hours.

Chargers Sony brand as well as 3rd party batteries. No issues so far.

Great for the FX6

I'm repeating my review of the IDX batteries here because it all applies: I started using these batteries with mySony EX3, then with my FS7 and now I use them with my FX6s, as the original ones are finally beginning to give in. They work fine with the Sony charger, but I bought a dual charger from IDX which works faster and charges both batteries simultaneously. All the information from the battery shows up in the FX6 viewfinder. I have not tried to power my camera from the charger but a power cable is included.

Is there a difference between this charger and the SWIT dual charger for Sony batteries which looks almost exactly the same?

The IDX System Technology MC-2U 2-Channel Simultaneous Charger for Sony BP-U Type Batteries (B&H# IDMC2U) and SWIT S-3602U Dual Charger/Adapter for Sony BP-U30/U60 Batteries (B&H# SWS3602U) are functionally equivalent.
