Smith-Victor 402086 Overview

The lightweight, portable, pop up 25" LED Desktop Studio from Smith Victor is a shooting tent without a frame, rods, or connectors, allowing it into fold down quickly and easily and become its own carrying case with a convenient handle.

Illuminated by a daylight-balanced, 5500K, dimmable LED panel, the Desktop Studio is ideal for jewelry, toys, or any small product. Its reflective silver interior maximizes output for shadowless light that can be softened with the included diffuser. Other shooting conveniences include a split door at the front opening and a shoot-through LED top. A bonus is the included 8" turntable for 360-degree shooting.

Interchangeable white, black, and gray background sweeps are included, as well as chroma key green for dropping in your own background in post-production.

    This is a well made box. Easy to set up. The lighting is great. Should last several years of hard use. I do wish the front opening had a bit more flexibility with the flaps to be "half open". I may add some velcro tape/ tabs to help with this (no big deal).

    Even though I have a full size studio, the Smith Victor 25 is a great alternative for small setup photos. It's fast, and portable. A great product for professional shots. I use a Nikon D 800 full frame camera with a tilt shift lens for depth of field.

    Will this create glare on shiny items, such as glazed ceramics? I'm looking to avoid the reflective issues with typical light.

    The reflectivity of your subject will depend on your framing angle and the positioning of your ceramics. The Smith-Victor 25" LED Desktop Studio has top-down LED lighting.

    How do the backdrops attach to the back? Are they velcro? Or will I need to buy tape or clips?

    The backgrounds that come with the Smith-Victor 25" LED Desktop Studio attach with hook-and-loop connectors at the upper back edge of the desktop studio. The forward edge of the sweep can be tucked into the front interior lip for additional reflection.

    The white backdrop on this light box is creating uneven bands of light in background of my photos. Is there a way to fix this?

    The Smith-Victor 25" LED Desktop Studio uses LED lights. Be sure to put your camera in the mechanical shutter and keep the shutter just around 100-125 of a second.
